WAS DRIVING ONE NIGHT WITH 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER SLEEPING IN THE BACK SEAT. THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY STARTED GOING OFF AND ON THEN OFF COMPLETELY, THEN WIPERS STARTED GOING OFF, THEN INTERIOR LIGHT AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS & LOCKS LIKE IT WAS POSSESSED THEN JEEP SUDDENLY DIED. THANK GOODNESS WE WERE ALMOST HOME SO MY HUSBAND COASTED IT INTO OUR DRIVEWAY THEN WE NOTICED WHAT SMELLED OF ELECTRICAL FIRE, I LOOKED AT THE HOOD AND COULD SEE A GLOW. MY HUSBAND PUT IT IN PARK AS I YELLED FOR MY DAUGHTER TO WAKE UP & GET OUT. MINE & MY HUSBANDS DOOR WERE UNLOCKED BUT THE BACK TWO DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK. I JUMPED BACK IN THE CAR (THE FIRE WAS ON MY SIDE ) TO GET MY PANICKING DAUGHTER OUT RIGHT AS THE BACK DOORS UNLOCKED AGAIN WHILE STILL GOING OFF AND ON, AND MY HUSBAND GOT THE FIRE PUT OUT AND BATTERY UNPLUGGED WHICH WAS BY THIS TIME ON FIRE ALONG WITH THE FUSE BOX.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE 91 FREEWAY EASTBOUND IN CALIFORNIA. SOMEBODY WAVE ME TO STOP. THE CAR GOT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING. AS SOON AS WE GOT OUT WE SAW THE FLAMES, IT GOT ON FIRE SO BAD THAT ONLY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH IT. SOME TRUCK DRIVERS TRIED TO EXTINGUISH BUT THEY COULDN'T. IT ONLY HAD 24000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE I ONLY USE IT ON THE WEEKENDS. I TOOK REALLY GOOD CARE OF IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS THE SCARIEST AND SADDEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE. 2015 WRANGLER SAHARA ENGINE FIRE I HAVE JUST PURCHASED 10 DAYS AGO A CERTIFIED 2015 WRANGLER SAHARA CERTIFIED PRE OWNED FROM AVONDALE DODGE IN PHOENIX AZ. IT WAS A GORGEOUS HARDTOP GREY, WITH 30" TIRES, MAGS AND AN LED LIGHT BAR. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR 3 MONTHS AND FINALLY FOUND MY DREAM WRANGLER. STILL WITH A TEMP PLATE AND ONE TANK OF GAS IN IT THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE SITTING IDLE AT MY WORK. I HAD LITERALLY DROVE FROM THE DEALER HOW IT HAPPENED. I HAD GONE FOR LUNCH WITH CO WORKERS AND PARKED IN COVERED PARKING AT MY OFFICE IN PHOENIX. THERE WAS NO FOUL SMELLS AND THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE WAS NORMAL. I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE FACILITIES MANAGERS 2 HOURS LATER WHILE IN A MEETING THAT FELLOW EMPLOYEES SAW IT SMOLDERING THROUGH THE GRILL AND PHONED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION, WITH ANOTHER MOTOR VEHICLE INCIDENT, TO WIT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED APPROPRIATELY. WHERE IN WHICH I RECEIVED INJURY FROM THE COLLISION ACCIDENT. AS A RESULT OF THE COLLISION INCIDENTS, I FURTHER INQUIRED WITH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL, AND WAS INFORMED, THAT THE DEPLOYMENT CONTACT SWITCH LOCATED ON THE FRONT OF MY 2015 JEEP WRANGLER, WAS LOCATED IN THE FRONT GRILL AREA, AND NOT LOCATED IN THE FRONT BUMPER AREA. RECENTLY BACK IN THE FALL OF 2016, I RECEIVED NOTICE FROM FIAT CHRYSLER JEEP CORPORATION. THAT MY 2016 JEEP WRANGLERS AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM HAD A RECALL ISSUE. WHICH FURTHER STATED, LET AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEMS RANGING BACK TO 2012 JEEP WRANGLERS, EXTENDING TO 2017 JEEP WRANGLERS. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT AS A RESULT OF MY 2015 JEEP WRANGLER COLLISION WHICH ENDED UP IN A TOTAL LOSS. I HAD TO PURSUE ANOTHER VEHICLE, HENCE MY 2016 JEEP WRANGLER, AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM RECALL NOTICE. FURTHER BE ADVISED, THAT WHEN I HAD TO SHOP AGAIN FOR ANOTHER MOTOR VEHICLE, TO WIT MY 2016 JEEP WRANGLER. I HAD ASKED THE DEALERSHIP SALES PERSON, IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM HAD EVER CHANGED FROM THE 2015 JEEP WRANGLERS, TO THE 2016 JEEP WRANGLERS? WHERE IN WHICH I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SAME AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEMS IN THE 2015 JEEP WRANGLER'S WERE THE SAME IN THE 2016 JEEP WRANGLERS. WHERE, GIVEN THE FACT THAT MOTOR VEHICLE AIRBAG RECALLS BY OTHER MANUFACTURING COMPANIES, ARE BEING CALLED INTO QUESTION? IT IS MY CONTENTION, THAT THE 2015 JEEP WRANGLER AIRBAG APPOINTMENT SYSTEM THEN I HAD OWNED AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION, WAS DEFECTIVE AS WELL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST AND HAND INJURIES AND WHIPLASH, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RESUMED DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITH AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING DAMPER AND MOTOR MOUNT DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT TENSIONER DID NOT RETRACT, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT'S HEAD TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A HEAD AND BACK INJURY, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, BUT NOT DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.

I ENDED TRAILERING MY JEEP HOME. IT IS DRIVABLE BUT I TOOK IT TO DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT (THEY CALLED CHRYSLER (THEY'RE SENDING OUT THEIR OWN INVESTIGATORS)). MY JEEP JUST TURNED A YEAR OLD AND LESS THAN 4000 MILES.

THIS VEHICLE, WHILE SITTING IN A DRIVEWAY, ENGINE OFF FOR AT LEAST 1/2 HOUR, HAD A FIRE START IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO BE A TOTAL BURN. CHRYSLER INVESTIGATOR RULED THAT IT WAS NOT A "MANUFACTURING DEFECT." I HAVE MANY PICTURES OF THE FIRE EVENT AND AFTER FIRE REMAINS. I HAVE BEEN IN THE RETAIL AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS FOR 30+ YEARS. I ALSO WAS A PUBLIC SPEAKER FOR CHRYSLER CORP AS WELL. HAD MY SON NOT STOPPED AT A FRIENDS HOUSE FOR DINNER, THAT FIRE WOULD HAVE OCCURRED IN MY GARAGE!! IT IS CRIMINAL WITH SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOUND ONLINE, THAT THEY WOULD CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS POSITION.

I DID GET INTO A MINOR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING ONTO A ON RAMP AND MY VEHICLE SKIDDED THE GUARD RAIL. THE GAS TANK WAS NEVER HIT NOR DID I HAVE A MAJOR DIRECT COLLISION IN THE ACCIDENT HOWEVER WITHIN SECONDS THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES AND WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND MY PERSONAL CONTENTS INSIDE MELTED INTO NOTHING. I LOVED JEEPS BUT THE INCIDENT HAS PERSUADED ME TO AVOID PURCHASING THEM FOR THE NEAR FUTURE.

AFTER WALKING OUTSIDE, WE FOUND MY BRAND NEW 2015 WRANGLER ON FIRE WITH VERY LARGE FLAMES ERUPTING FROM THE HOOD. WE QUICKLY WOKE THE REST OF MY FAMILY AND RUSHED FRANTICALLY TO PUT IT OUT. AN HOUR LATER, AFTER NEARBY NEIGHBORS ARRIVED TO HELP, AND EMERGENCY SERVICES ARRIVED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE (LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE) THE VEHICLE FIRE WAS DOUSED AND THE JEEP WAS HAULED OFF MY PROPERTY TO A LOCAL TOWING YARD. THE FIRE SEEMED TO HAVE STARTED AROUND THE BATTERY AREA, BUT THE SOURCE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. THE FIRE CLAIMED THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, MOST OF THE DRIVERS DASH BOARD AND DRIVERS INTERIOR, AND THE ENTIRE FRONT LEFT TIRE/TRIM.
