My car's engine had damaged engine seals and was leaking oil. Also, when I accelerate it seems to be very forceful and the gears don't change well, they seem to be stuck. I had to take the front axle in for repair since something seemed to break. Also in the second or third year I had to take it under warranty since I had problems with the brakes and the sensor was damaged. The button to raise and lower the window does not work.

When you go to stop at a stop.sihn or in general it fails to do so. It locks up an I slide an almost hit people multiple times. Today I was backing out of a parking lot an when I went to turn my steering wheel straight it locked up an failed to let me counter steer it. Causing me to go over a curb an almost blow my tire out. Leaving my tire with a big bubble on the side of my tire. Eventually going to lead to a blow out.

The rear brake lines are corroded where the lines come into contact with the plastic hangers that keep the lines in place under the car. Due to this issue I lost brake pressure while driving the car. This happened in a parking lot, but my safety and the safety of many others would have been at risk had this happened on the highway while driving at speed and if I needed to brake suddenly to slow down. I have not had the brake lines inspected at the dealer, but I have them in case they are needed. Hyundai recently sent a service campaign letter to me regarding underbody corrosion prevention service for cars in the states that use salt on the road. I feel Hyundai is being negligent in not extending this service to include replacing parts of the underbody, such as the brake lines, that are required for the normal and safe operation of the vehicle. Due to their lack of underbody corrosion prevention that should have been in place when the car was manufactured my safety was put at great risk and I now have to replace the brake lines at my own cost. I feel Hyundai know that their brake lines will rust and corrode due to salt usage, and their underbody campaign is not addressing these problems which could result in owners having a serious accident.

The brake pedal stopper pad had deteriorated and crumbled onto the floor mat. The brake lights stayed on continous without pushing the brake pedal. The cruise control stopped working and the shift lever could be moved without depressing the brake pedal. The brake light switch stayed extended even when I wasn't applying the brakes. I tried to contact Hyundia case number19874192 and told them because they had recalled prior year cars elantra and sonata for same brake pedal stopper pad deteriorating. I am not making any progress through the corporate or dealer rep. Told the recall which started in November 2017 was for vehicles 2013 -2014 even though I have the same deteriorating part. No warning lamps or lights, defective part was diagnosed through local auto parts store.

My brake stop pad broke, causing my brake lights to remain on constantly unless the fuse was pulled. This caused battery drain and safety issues on the road. This issues appears consistent with the recalls for the 2013 and 2014 Hyundai models with stop pad recalls.

I BOUGHT MY 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA FROM THE CARMAX IN OAK LAWN ILLINOIS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 AND SINCE THEN I'VE EXPERIENCED A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AND CARMAX IS ONLY TELLING ME THAT IT WAS A PLASTIC BAG ON THE EXHAUST PIPE AND THAT IT WILL BURN OFF ON ITS OWN. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THEM ON APRIL 17, 2019 AND TODAY IS MAY 14, 2019 AND I'M ALMOST POSITIVE THAT IT DOESN'T TAKE A WHOLE MONTH FOR A BAG TO BURN OFF AN EXHAUST PIPE. ALSO I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY BRAKE SYSTEM, WHEN I BRAKE THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT'S STALLING AND IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE AS IF THE CAR IS ON ICE AND THE EXTRA BRAKE IS HELPING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I KNOW THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN THIS WAY. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE EVERYDAY AND I CAN'T DRIVE A FAULTY VEHICLE AND SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THEM WHILE DRIVING IT.

I WAS RETURNING HOME THIS AFTERNOON AND MY WIFE'S HYUNDAI ELANTRA WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS LIT. I FIGURED MY WIFE HAD LEFT HER LIGHTS ON AND LOOKED IN THE CAR TO SEE THEY WERE OFF. I STARTED THE CAR AND PRESSED THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES BUT THE LIGHTS REMAINED ON SO I THOUGHT THE SWITCH HAD GONE BAD. MY WIFE WATCHED AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH MANUALLY AND THE SWITCH WORKED BUT THE PEDAL DID NOT COME FAR ENOUGH BACK TO DEPRESS THE SWITCH AND I SAW ONLINE THAT A PAD WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PRESENT BUT WAS MISSING. I FOUND RECALLS FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS MENTIONING AN ISSUE WITH PAD DETERIORATION AND FIGURE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BE HAPPENING TO THIS MODEL AS WELL.

"TAKATA RECALL". NOTICE WHEN PRESSING THE BREAKS AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR MAN HOLE COVER THE BRAKES SEEM TO RELEASE AND SKIP FORWARD LOSING CONTROL TO SOME DEGREE. I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE FIX AFTER INSTALLING BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS BUT IT STILL CONTINUES. I'M CONCERNED WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN DURING THE WINTER IN ICEY ROAD OR SNOW COVERED ROAD CONDITIONS.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2015 Hyundai Elantra Hev verdict →
