The contact was informed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure, and the rack and pinion gears were replaced along with the Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) module. The contact stated that vehicle had experienced the same failure after repairs were made and had not been repaired since the last failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

I must actively resist the car in order to maintain my lane. There are no MILs illuminated in the instrument panel. I asked dealer to align the vehicle. Dealer claimed, "Cannot be Aligned", "Power Steering Rack is Leaking". I was skeptical of claim because I have "Electric" Power Steering System. I took vehicle to an independent mechanic. They found minor misalignment and successfully corrected that. The mechanic advised me that he found the vehicle is "wanting to turn right on its own". I have documentation from both establishments.

I was coming out of a turn on a local street, going very slow. My vehicle ended up crossing the two lane road and hit a telephone pole. The pole did not fall down. Thankfully, neither myself nor my front passenger were seriously injured. We had on seat belts and the air bags DID NOT deploy. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT LATER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED AND REPAIRED THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A RESULT OF A STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

THE CONTACT PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO PRIME HONDA - BOSTON (1575 VFW PKWY, WEST ROXBURY, MA 02132) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS TORQUE SENSOR FAILURE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT RODENTS HAD EATEN THE WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
