I am original owner of vehicle, 125,000 miles, well maintained, no accidents. I would like to add to other owner complaints of, "Car is turning without input from driver". My sample turns right. I must actively resist the car in order to maintain my lane. There are no MILs illuminated in the instrument panel. I asked dealer to align the vehicle. Dealer claimed, "Cannot be Aligned", "Power Steering Rack is Leaking". I was skeptical of claim because I have "Electric" Power Steering System. I took vehicle to an independent mechanic. They found minor misalignment and successfully corrected that. The mechanic advised me that he found the vehicle is "wanting to turn right on its own". I have documentation from both establishments.

I was coming out of a turn on a local street, going very slow. My vehicle ended up crossing the two lane road and hit a telephone pole. The pole did not fall down. Thankfully, neither myself nor my front passenger were seriously injured. We had on seat belts and the air bags DID NOT deploy. There was no warning of a crash in terms of instruments or trouble with handling. The vehicle motor was shut off because I tried to cut the motor after impact and it was already stalled. The vehicle was declared a total loss. No one to my knowledge did any safety inspections. I have since learned that the crash may be a result of some known defects in the model. I have never received any recall notices in the years of owning the car. I purchased as certified pre-owned in 2018. This is a courtesy notice to help others.

Electric power steering failed to work properly, including turning wheels hard to the left without driver effort; driver could override this through continuous effort to hold wheels straight against steering system pull. Dealer service confirmed the problem; replacement cost was $2837, mostly for parts. Vehicle has less than 28,000 miles. There were no warning lamps, messages, etc. Repair notes that DTC vehicle scanned no stored codes.

While driving on the freeway at 65mph my electric power steering failed. The steering suddenly became very difficult to manage. Fortunately for me, I am a big strong man and was able to control the car. The reason I want to report this is if a person with little strength or disability would not be able to control the car. Especially in a high speed turning situation. I have researched this online and found a few people have had accidents because of the steering failure. The EPS (electric power steering) module failed. Replacing this unit fixed the problem.

While driving, the steering wheel light started to come on and started to make a noise, then the steering wheel itself got stuck and could not turn the vehicle. This we were so close to crashing putting in risk myself and my kids at the time. Since then, I can’t drive it due to the steering wheel locking.

While driving with no warning the power steering fails. The warning light then came on stating power system failure. Then just as quickly it began to work again before I was able to pull safely to the side. After checking the manual I set an appointment with honda of Huntington. They stated there was no error code for the steering and that I should drive the car till the light stays on. After that I took the car to my independent mechanic who also couldn't reproduce the problem. Two days later we drove the car for 1 hour and it happened again. Each time it was failing it returned to normal. This is an accident waiting to happen.

I was driving in the outer lane on a city street when my car suddenly turned and hit the curb, sending the car down a hill. The brakes didn’t work either and I hit two trees headon. All airbags deployed. An electrical fire started under the hood. Two men came and shut off the power. The car was towed and declared a total loss. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The only person that I know of that inspected the car was the claims adjuster. There was no warning that anything was wrong. If anyone had been in the path of the car, I would have been unable to stop or turn.

When driving our 2015 Honda Accord, without warning or message, the steering of the car just stopped and our safety was put at risk. The wheel was unresponsive, rendering the car not steerable. It was like the old no power steering days when your tried to turn the steering wheel while in a parked position - not responsive. We couldn't drive the car and had it towed. This happened while driving! The dealer wrote it up as "The power setting light is on" which was not indicative of the loss of steering while the car was being driven. Since the car was towed to the dealership, we did not see the service write-up until a week later. They said the "these things can just happen when electronics are involved" The replaced the Electric Power Steering Rack and Pinion which was over $2,000.00

THE 2015 HONDA ACCORD HAS INTERMITTENTLY AND TEMPORARILY LOSS STEERING CONTROL (TURNING THE WHEEL HAS NO IMPACT ON DIRECTION OF VEHICLE) AND HAS HAD UNKNOWN STEERING REDIRECTION (WHEEL TURNING ON ITS OWN OUTSIDE OF DRIVERS CONTROL) WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD. BOTH ISSUES LAST APPROXIMATELY A FEW SECONDS AND THEN APPARENTLY RESOLVED ITSELF. ISSUE APPEARS RANDOM WITH NO NOTICEABLE DRIVER INPUT CAUSING IT.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid verdict →
