This claim is to report that when I received the letter from Ford with the recall, I tried to book an appointment for said recall, which is impossible because they are giving them for 6 to 8 months. After trying several days, I got one in palmeto Ford, unfortunately the car failed exactly as the recall said and the transmission broke, affecting the brakes as well, which almost caused an accident in turpike, after this I left it at Ford transit at (16800 nw 57 Av, 33015) where to date they do not give me reason, I have gone 5 times and they have not received an answer, the vehicle is a work vehicle and it is the livelihood of my family, please, if in any way it can be managed, it can be fixed as soon as possible, thanks

Both rear axle tone rings cracked causing inoperable ABS, stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and front camera/lane departure warning system. One incident happened while driving on the freeway at 75 MPH and all above warning lamps illuminated. The right rear hub assembly/axle needed to be removed and the tone ring replaced by the dealer at 73,000 miles, and the left at 95,000 miles. It appears to be a common problem and the repair process is fairly extensive and expensive which may discourage repair and cause large vans (possibly even 15 passenger models) to be driven without working stability control, ABS, and other important safety systems.

The engine stalled and we were lucky enough that the vehicle was able to reach the end of the viaduct. I had my spouse and 7 children in the van. We received a tow but myself and 2 children were forced to walk along the interstate as the tow couldn't hold all of us. As this is a large passenger van, it's my opinion as a licensed professional engineer that it poses an substantial fatality risk to occupants because the likelihood of fatalities on interstates is tremendous due to traveling speed. Ford designed a windshield that puts water into the air system which creates a known safety and 100% preventable condition. This should be a factory safety recall repaired in all Ford Transits. Most of these vans are used by government agencies for employee or prison transport or by church/community service groups and has a high percentage of mass casualty or PDO when the system fails. There are multiple YouTube and Ford Transit auto forums highlighting this safety design flaw so it is a well known and attributable problem created by substandard Ford engineering.

The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the throttle body actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. On Jan.17th, 2022,the Driveshaft Flexible Coupling separated at Highway speed, taking out my Fuel Lines and severely damaging the Transmission and other under-body components. (Safety Recall Notice 19S38 / NHTSA Recall 19V-767) On May 19th, 2022, I received my 1st phone call from Todd-Judy Ford, Marmet, SC. w/Service Estimate for $5,725.75 of repairs he claimed necessary that would NOT BE COVERED BY FORD. , I know the guy was trying to pad the bill. I told him to talk to Ford Pro. On July,25th, 2022 Todd-Judy Ford called to inform me that my Van was “ready to go,” “completely fixed” I  left Sept. 9th, 2022 driving over 500 miles, to Todd-Judy Ford. Once there they started telling me about all the new parts they put into my Van, saying “You’ve got a “New Transmission,” at which point I interrupted him, saying that I knew it was a New Transmission “Case,” not a “New Transmission.” He then proceeded to explain that when they got the “New Case”, the Trans. Tech. inspects all the parts from my Trans., replacing anything it needs, while re-assembling into the “New Case.” He claims that it’s a “Rebuilt” Transmission! So, I ask, “Is there a Warranty on it, then?” To which he replies “Yes there is!” I looked at the paperwork and saw quite a few parts listed as used, which are obviously Transmission Components. I also see “Rebuilt Transmission” listed twice as Corrections!  My Van had a "Dead Battery" and a "massive exhaust leak". On Nov. 17th, 2022, just 51 days after picking up my Van, the Transmission failed! Towed to Rock-Hill Ford SC. It threw a Code of P0731, which is “Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio.” Multiple teeth from a gear sheared off. Ford Pro (Customer Service) then said “We can’t offer you any “Financial Assistance” on this repair. She said something else, about not having any other “Programs” to offer. I had never asked for Financial Assistance! I asked for the Transmission to be repaired under the Warranty from 51 day previous! Rock Hill Ford wants $9,806.09.

There are actually two problems that I'm experiencing repeatedly and have almost since the van was new: The lug nuts on the wheels loosen almost constantly. I have to keep a tire iron in the van at all times because I never know when a wheel will start to work loose. This happens when the wheels are torqued to Ford specs. The other problem is the wheel studs breaking off. I've probably had something like 10-12 or more shear off in the 6 years that I've had the van. This van is not used for heavy loads. It carries laundry and a typical load is almost always under 1,000 lbs. It is also not driven hard. My mechanic is baffled by both issues.

I AM LUCKY THAT THE ROAD WAS PRETTY EMPTY AND NO ONE WAS HURT. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET THAT RECALL FIXED FOR THE LONGEST TIME BUT IT'S ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND FORD FOES NOT EVEN KNOW WHEN AND IF THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. FORD REFUSES TO EVEN GIVE ME A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR A RENTAL.

The contact inspected the underside of the vehicle and discovered that support near the engine was completely rusted through. The contact drove the vehicle to the local dealer for an oil change, where the vehicle was inspected and found that the rusted support needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed by the dealer and by the contact of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

We repaired brakes on this vehicle that is owned by one of our customers business. When you replace rear brake rotors on these vans the caliper bracket mounting bolts and the bolts that hold the rotors to the axle and the differential must be replaced. They are torque to yield bolts and only one use is permitted. We have several vehicle in fleets that we work on that have these same vans. We had always used the Ford replacement bolts and had no issues. NAPA started stocking a Dorman supplied bolts for the rotors to be attached. The part number for the NAPA parts are 92601271. The bolts sheared off on the right rear and allowed the right rear tire and wheel to come out of the rear axle housing. The repair was done on 3-24-21 at 66644 miles and the failure occurred 10-7-21 at 76263. The Ford number for these bolts is W716084-S439. The head markings for the Ford ones are SPF 10.9 and the Dorman ones are 322 10.9.
