The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the front driver's side door unexpectedly opened due to a latch failure. The contact stated that he drilled some holes and installed wires to keep the front driver's side door securely closed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,260.

The contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while attempting to unlock the door with the key fob, the function inadvertently unlocked all the doors except the driver's side door. The contact was able to unlock the door manually. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed without a failure; however, the battery was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the key fob needed to be recalibrated. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, WITHOUT WARNING, THE DRIVER'S DOOR UNLATCHED AND THE DOOR OPENED. THE CONTACT HELD THE DOOR CLOSED AND DROVE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER PLAZA MOTORS (11654 OLIVE BLVD, CREVE COEUR, MO 63141) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V387000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000.

DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAME OPEN AND WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER WHO IDENTIFIED FAULTY DOOR LATCH. I RESEARCHED ISSUE AND LEARNED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL BACK IN 2015 ON THE DOOR LATCH FOR THE SAME MAKE/MODEL AND YEAR OF VEHICLE. I CONTACTED RANGE ROVER AND THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V385000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,600.
