TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN, ON FEBRUARY 23, 2018 I WAS DRIVING ON I-4 IN ORLANDO, FL WHEN A PASSENGER-SEAT BRACKET INSIDE THE HEADREST GAVE WAY. MY WIFE WAS THE PASSENGER WHO ACTUALLY STAYED HOME FROM WORK THE FOLLOWING DAY HAVING NECK PAIN. NECK PAIN DIMINISHED AND SHE WENT BACK TO WORK THE NEXT DAY. SOMETIME SHORTLY AFTER, I DROPPED OFF MY CAR (2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUMMIT) AT THE FIELDS AUTOMOTIVE FOR A HEADREST REPLACEMENT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD TO RESCHEDULE AS THEY HAD TO ORDER A NEW HEADREST. I WENT BACK TO PICK UP MY JEEP AND OF COURSE RESCHEDULE A TIME FOR REPLACEMENT. WHEN I DROPPED OFF MY JEEP AGAIN, I GET A PHONE CALL STATING THAT THE HEADREST WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE COST WAS WELL OVER $700.00 (PARTS AND LABOR) WHICH I DECLINED AND WENT BACK AGAIN TO PICK UP. A FEW WEEKS LATER I DECIDED TO ORDER THE HEADREST FROM FACTORY OEM PARTS IN TAMPA, FLORIDA AND HAD IT SHIPPED TO MY RESIDENCE. RECEIVED NEW HEAD REST, INSTALLED AND WIRED IN SECONDS. HEADREST COST $443.87 INCLUDING SHIPPING. INVOICE IS ATTACHED. VERY UPSET WITH THE TIME I SPENT ON RESOLVING THIS AND THE MARKUP THE DEALERSHIPS ARE CHARGING FOR THE REPLACEMENT. I INVESTIGATED THE DAMAGED HEADREST AND RELATED THE FAULT FROM A BROKEN PLASTIC CLIP. I STILL HAVE THE DAMAGED HEADREST.

I AM NOT AN ENGINEER, BUT THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM DUE TO FAULTY ENGINEERING OR MANUFACTURING. WHEN I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME IF THE 'CLIPS' WERE BROKEN THAT THE HEADREST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM SHOCKED THAT A 'SAFETY FEATURE ' MALFUNCTIONING IS A PROBLEM THAT I NEED TO PAY TO FIX. (ABOUT $680 FOR A REPLACEMENT PLUS LABOR COST) THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS CRASH AND INJURIES. THIS STYLE HEADREST NEEDS TO BANNED. ALSO OTHER JEEP OWNERS NEED TO BE AWARE OF THIS. IT'S VERY UNSAFE AND JEEP NEEDS TO REPLACE THE HEADREST WITH A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SAFER HEADREST. I FEAR NOW THAT WHEN I'M DRIVING THAT THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST COULD MALFUNCTION AND EXPLODE AT THE BACK OF MY HEAD RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURIES. SUNROOF HAS FAILED 6 TIMES AND IS NOW READY FOR IT'S 7TH REPAIR. THE SUNROOF'S AUTOMATIC FUNCTIONS STOP WORKING SO WHEN IT FAILS YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE CLOSE BUTTON REPEATEDLY WHILE THE SUNROOF MOVES MAYBE 1/4" ON EACH DEPRESSION OF THE BUTTON. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MOTOR ONCE AND FOR THE OTHER 4 TIMES I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO BE CALIBRATED. THE LAST SUNROOF FAILURE THEY WENT IN AND WENT THROUGH ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AND SAID THEY FOUND SOME ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEMS AND FIXED THEM. THE SUNROOF FAILED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT, DUE TO ANOTHER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ISSUE. THE ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONS REGULARLY WHICH AFFECT THE RADIO CONTROLS, NAVIGATION, CENTRAL LOCKING, PHONE, AND I GET RANDOM ERRONEOUS ERRORS ON THE DASH DISPLAY. THE RADIO/NAVIGATION UNITS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE NAVIGATION SCREEN LOCKS UP BUT THE VOICE WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE YOU VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS. IF YOU MANUALLY LOCK THE VEHICLE AND START WALKING AWAY THE HORN WILL BEEP TWICE AND THE VEHICLE WILL UNLOCK LIKE THE KEYS HAVE BEEN LOCKED IN THE CAR, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE IN YOUR HAND. I WAS TOLD YOU CANNOT USE THE LOCK BUTTONS ON YOUR DOOR TO LOCK THE VEHICLE. WHEN YOU WALK UP TO THE CAR AND GRAB THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE CAR IT FAILS, AND YOU HAVE TO GRAB THE DOOR HANDLE ALL OVER REPEATEDLY TO GET IT TO UNLOCK. THE DASH DISPLAY WILL GIVE FALSE MESSAGES WHILE DRIVING LIKE ALREADY IN DESIRED GEAR AND NO ONE HAS TOUCHED THE SHIFTER. THE VOICE WILL COME ON RANDOMLY AND ASK YOU WHAT NUMBER YOU WANT TO CALL, AGAIN NO BUTTONS NOR THE DISPLAY HAVE BEEN TOUCHED. ERROR ON DISPLAY MEMORY SYSTEM, THE PROGRAMMED SEAT SWITCHES WERE REPLACED. TRANSMISSION ISSUE, THE MODULE WAS REPLACED. REAR HATCH FAILURE, FINALLY SWITCH WAS REPLACED. REAR TAIL LIGHT LENS REPLACED AS IT WAS FULL OF WATER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SWITCH. ENGINE VIBRATION, BAD AC COMP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. LEE SUMMIT DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (1051 SE OLDHAM PARKWAY, LEE SUMMIT, MISSOURI 64081) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED AN UNKNOWN WIRE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME AS NEEDING THE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,300.
