My 2014 Camaro SS, has about 35k miles on it now, and only drive during the summer. I was looking for a parking spot at work, went to turn right, and the steering wheel totally locked up on me, would not turn left or right from a straight position, ended up slamming on the brakes for i wouldn't run into the embankment in front of me. Put the car in Park, kept playing with the steering wheel, and it finally came free and turned right, after trying to go from left to right a couple of times. So put it back in drive and it performed normally the rest of the day. Sometimes when parking the car, the key will not go fully into the lock position, without starting and shutting the car down a few times, and wiggling the steering wheel in the center position. I See there is a steering related recall on this vehicle but thinking that isn't the problem, but will check it out just in case. But as you can see this could be a very dangerous situation when driving down the highway at 70 MPH. This car was also one that had the key upgrade to it for the issue with the ignition switch, but thinking that isn't an issue. I also used to work for GM in Powertrain, and the switch/sensor area for a while where the one gentleman was fired from, and now retired from GM. So am very familiar with vehicles and thinking it may be the locking mechanism in the steering wheel that is having issues, or the PCM is having glitches? Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.

When I drive my knee turns the key, causing a the car to turn off. This is a safety issue that is concerning I am a mom. Every time my knee hits the part key while the car is on it turns the car off. The heater is an issue I have air but no heat. In order for me to fix the heater I told they would have to remove the entire window, but I would have to sign a waiver, because the window could break. Then they would have to remove the dash and another part in order to fix the heat in the car. This is in my opinion a safety issue I don’t understand how the heater could be fixed without causing the window in the car to possibly break. I was told the chances of the window not breaking in order to fix the heater in the car is nearly impossible. Which means I would have to buy a window and pay for labor in order to fix the heat in the car. 1. I have an ignition issue my knee is turning off the car when I drive. 2. Fixing the heat in the car is nearly impossible. 3. Please help check for recalls

The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15 MPH, another vehicle failed to yield and crashed into the front passenger side of the vehicle. The contact stated he depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to stop, and the steering wheel failed. The air bags deployed seconds after the crash. No warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained an injury to his back and a head concussion. Medical attention was needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance. The dealer was not notified. The manufacture was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage of 109,000.

OUR 2014 CHEVY CAMARO SS POWER STEERING WOULD LOCK UP ON US WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AND WOULD JERK AND WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STEER THE CAR AND IT WAS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU WERE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65-70 MPH. MY HUSBAND WAS COMING HOME FROM COURT ON 9/8/20 AND IT WAS ALSO OUR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND IT LOCKED UP ON HIM AND THE NEXT THING HE KNEW HE WAS HIT BY A LADY AND HE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OUR CAR WAS TOTALED AND HE DONT EVEN HAVE ANY RECOLITION OF WHAT HAPPENED THE IMPACT OF THE LADY HITTING HIM KNOCKED HIM OUT AND HE IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE HE SUFFERED A BROKE ARM AND HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO HAVE A PLATE AND SCREWS PUT IN TO REPAIR IT AND WE DONT HAVE A VEHICLE NOW. WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR THE END OF MAY 2020. WE SEEN A RECALL ON THE STEERING LOCKING UP AND THE CHEVY DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER WASN'T ON RECALL. HOW CAN A VEHICLE THAT IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE SAME EXACT VEHICLE WITH A DIFFERENT LETTER IN THE VIN NOT BE ON RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT DEFECT? MY HUSBAND IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND NOW WE ARE LEFT WITH NO VEHICLE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE ID LIKE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPLACED DUE TO THIS RECALL THAT WAS DEFECTIVE IN MY VEHICLE. THE STEERING RACK MAKES A PULSING NOISE AROUND CORNERS AND THE STEERING CUTS IN AN OUT OF POWER ASSIST MODE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEARLY NEW WITH 752 MILES ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SEVERAL UNITS, BUT THIS CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED. I BELIEVE THE RECALL EXTENDS TO THIS CAR AND PROBABLY SEVERAL OTHERS AS MANY PEOPLE ON THE FORUMS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME ISSUE. THE CAR DOES IT CONSTANTLY AROUND CORNERS, AND I WOULD BE HAPPY TO LET AND NHTSA INVESTIGATOR DRIVE THE CAR. THIS CAR IS ALSO MAKING THE CLUNK FROM THE REAR UNDER NHTSA#10114259. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THE STEERING AND I ALSO BELIEVE NHTSA#10114259 SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT A TSB.

PASSENGER SEAT TWO WAY MOTOR HAD SHORT OR DEFECT WOULD CAUSE SEAT TO GET STUCK IN HIGH POSITION AT VARIOUS TIMES AND HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING WITH SEAT TOUCHING ROOF, NOT SURE IF SMALLER PERSON WOULD BE SAFE IF AIRBAGS GO OFF IN THIS POSITION. ALSO KEY CAME OUT WHILE SOMEONE ELSE WAS USING CAR.SINCE ALL THESE THINGS HAPPEN FAIRLY SOON AFTER PURCHASE I THOUGHT MAYBE I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY USE THE CARS OPTIONS OR CONTROLS. I OWN A CHEVROLET, CAMARO 2014. THIS CAR HAS A DEFECT WITH THE STEERING KEY IGNITION. THE KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS A DEFECT AS A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW HOW PREVALENT THIS ISSUE AS THERE ARE FORUMS AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS WITH CONSUMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. EVEN WHEN I WAS AT THE DEALER THERE WAS ANOTHER PATRON THERE WITH THIS CAR, COMPLAINT AND DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE IT IS A MATERIAL DEFECT BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT IS SO COMMON. PLEASE ASSIST. THIS MAY NOT SEEM LIKE THE SAME CONCERN AS AN AIRBAG BUT IT IS AN ISSUE AS IT ALLOWS THE CONSUMER TO BE VULNERABLE TRYING TO GET THEIR KEY IT OF THE IGNITION AND IN MOST CASES FAILING TO BE ABLE TO DO SO AND NEEDING TO EITHER LEAVE THE VEHICLE, HAVE IT TOWED AND POSSIBLY DEPENDING ON WHERE THIS HAPPENS BEING VULNERABLE. I WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION AT NIGHT, ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS FIDGETING WITH THIS KEY AND UNABLE TO GET IT TO RELEASE.

VEHICLE WAS HAVING A RADIO SHUT OFF ISSUE, WHERE ALL FM/AM STATIONS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, HOWEVER, SATELLITE RADIO WAS AVAILABLE. THE RADIO WOULD EMIT A "POP" SOUND AND THEN SHUT OFF (OCCURS DAILY). DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. NOW AS RECENT AS APR 30, 2017 (OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY), WHEN RADIO TURNS OFF, ENTIRE VEHICLE TURNS OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH, NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY. STEERING BECOMES UNAVAILABLE MAKING USE OF THIS VEHICLE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE TO BEGIN REPAIR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CAMARO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE ALLOY WHEEL, RUBBER VALVE, DRIVER SIDE C-LINER, AND HUB AND BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,313.

THE STEERING WHEEL HAS MANUAL DRIVE SHIFT LEVERS ON BOTH SIDES. WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN SOMETIMES THE LEVER GETS CAUGHT ON KEYS CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE A HARD RIGHT TURN RESULTING IN MOMENTARY LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. I HAVE ALMOST DRIVEN INTO DITCHES OR OTHER OBJECTS DUE TO THIS DEFECT. ALSO, THE SHIFTER IS NOT ENGAGING PROPERLY CAUSING THE KEY TO BE GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF. IN ORDER TO GET THE KEY TO RELEASE I HAVE TO RESTART THE ENGINE, REVERSE AND PUT THE SHIFTER BACK IN THE PARK POSITION. THEN I MUST ENGAGE THE FLOOR BRAKE AND RELEASE IT UNTIL A CLICKING NOISE IS HEARD INSIDE THE SHIFTER. THE KEY WILL THEN RELEASE. THIS PROBLEM HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED IN OTHER MODELS OF GM VEHICLES AND PART OF A RECALL HOWEVER MY MODEL HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY.
