TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 BUICK VERANO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AND CAUSED BOTH A FRONT AND REAR END COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S WIFE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND ARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INSURANCE LOT AND THEN LATER TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
