We live in the Ozarks where it is very hilly. We have had several occurrences where we have traveled uphill while in our 2013 Nissan Rogue and we have had to pull over due to issues with the CVT. It is very dangerous when on the highway and the speed limit is 65 and the Rogue won't accelerate past 45 mph. The first time that this happened, we took it to a Nissan dealership and they said that the car needed a cooler kit ($200). We were out of town and they were not able to make the repairs same day so we declined. Our regular auto shop has stated that they see issues all the time with the transmission of the 2013 Rogues. It was recommended to us to get a new transmission but they aren't sure if that would actually fix the issue. They recommended selling the vehicle as Nissan is notorious for not wanting to correct their issues. The most recent incident regarding the CVT was 9/17 when my husband and I were looking to travel for a day trip an hour and a half away. We were unable to make the trip as they were many hills and the CVT made us pull over several times. We were very lucky to be in the right lane and only almost got hit twice. Unfortunately there is not always a safe spot to pull over when the CVT acts up which has left us in on the shoulder of hills. We ended up turning back around after waiting for the engine to cool for a couple of hours. This car is a nightmare.

Daughter driving to and from work. Car stalls and will not accelerate. It shakes and whistles. I called Nissan Headquarters because I knew other Nissan models have been given a 120,000 mile extended warranty to cover defective transmissions. This particular vehicle is not covered, but on carcomplaints.com it is one of the worst reported vehicles. My daughter is pregnant. This car is not safe and should be a required fixed by company.

CVT transmission and it is available for inspection While traveling on the interstate, on a mild elevation increase, there was an immediate loss of power, dropped from 80 mph to 60-65 mph and the rpms were almost in the red. The vehicle behind us was fortunately paying attention because they changed lanes without hitting us. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer and a third party transmission service center. The Nissan Dealership has inspected the vehicle. There were no indications that the problem would happen.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 70-75 MPH with cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted and decelerated to 50-55 MPH. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle would not exceed 50-55 MPH. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he veered to the side of the road and he turned off the vehicle. The contact stated he restarted the vehicle. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle still failed to exceed 50-55 MPH. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed as the OBD reader could not read the codes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the vehicle was jerking while driving. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist due to the age and mileage of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

Loss of power after driving for an hour or more and going uphill. RPMs will only go to 3000 and unable to accelerate. Driving in heavy traffic going through Salt Lake City interstate 15, had loss of power and was unable to accelerate as traffic slowed and then sped up again. Just returned from the 2245 mile trip and experienced the problem multiple times. One time was parked in a driveway at a slight decline and was unable to back out of the driveway until I waited for the engine to cool off. I did call my local dealer where it was purchased and they told me it was an underlying issue. Will be scheduling a diagnostic check this coming week. No warning lights on dash, just sudden loss of power.

I noticed my vehicle started whining when I would drive up a steep hill. I took it to my mechanic who told me it was the transmission. I then took it to the Nissan dealer who I bought it from who also said I needed a new transmission. My vehicle had 78,900 miles. I called Nissan who was no help at all. The service manager at the the dealership said that they replace about 30 transmissions a month. My cost the the replacement transmission was $4,311.00.

We were driving on a freeway going out of Houston with a speed of 75 mph. Suddenly the car slowed down to 45 mph. This almost caused us to have an accident with motorists from behind. We had to drive the car at 45 mph all the way from Houston, TX to Austin, TX. This was also very dangerous since we had to drive on the shoulder to avoid being rear-ended. This was over two years ago when car had mileage less than 120,000 miles. Nissan refused to replace tranmission (CVT). Their recommendation was to add a transmission cooler. This works up to 68 mph. Over that, computer puts car into "Safe" Mode (45 mph).

Recalls for model years of 2014-2016 as well as 2013 sentras due to passenger air bag sensor malfunction. Recall states the the sensor doesn’t detect when passenger is in seat and will not deploy in event of accident. Drive a 2013 rogue sv with same exact issue as described in recall for other vehicles but 2013 model year not included in recall when this is a prevelant issue with Nissan among many makes and models and for many years. Very hazardous to have a passenger in vehicle and air bags keep saying they are turned off. Big safety issue and don’t understand how Nissan is not including 2013 rogue in airbag recall when It has the same exact issue that is stated in recall but instead of fixing their major safety defect that could put many children , adults , elderly in a deadly situation. They decide to not include rogue from 2013 and instead are trying to charge over 1000 to replace the seat to fix their sensor defect. Please investigate as I’m certain there are many other rogue with the same issue as what has been diagnosed by Nissan was this exact problem they recalled for other model years and are fixing but yet want to charge when this is a dangerous known issue from Nissan across several makes and model years as well as generations

only a month after I bought the car I was going normal highway speeds(around 70mph) and it felt as if my car slipped into neutral, I had 0 acceleration and continued to slow down on the highway, I shifted into low gear and back to drive and it picked up again. This has happened four more times where the cars automatic transmission has slipped.

I lose power when traveling at high speeds in hot temperatures. I drive on a toll road that is 75MPH, when it is hot out I completely lose all power no matter how much I step on the gas. I slowed down to 40 MPH on a road that is 75. PLEASE figure this out and get it fixed. It is very scary when people are behind you and almost hit you. I put in 1 date that I remember this happening, but it has happened consistently for about 3 years.

For the last 3 years my car on a hill or incline has stop shifting gears and its getting worse and worse every year. My car only has 101,000 miles! I had it for 5 years, took it to a certified mechanic to hear the transmission is going and there are numerous reports of CVT transmission issues with this SUV. And a loud electrical noise all the time. Nissan USA only agreed to pay half of the repairs for the faulty CVT transmission.

I have had numerous big repairs done to this vehicle. On 06/25/2021, I took the car to have the air conditioner fixed. It turned out it was the compressor that needed to be replaced. The next day I picked up the car and the mechanic told me this car needs to be parked right away because it needs a few major repairs. It needed the front n rear pads n rotors, the right axle and the left lower control arm. Since we need this car to go to work and transport our children to their appointments, we went ahead and had the repairs done. We brought the car on 07/07/21 to have it repaired. Total amount paid in all repairs was $1,737.00. The next day i took the car to work to test it out after all the repairs and it drove fine. The following day my wife took the car in the morning to work. She noticed the car was stalling and would not go forward even pressing the gas to the bottom. She was at a stop light and when it turned green she pressed the gas to go and the car just stopped and the check engine came on. It is the transmission. She was able to pull to the side safely. The transmission on this car was replaced on 10/01/19 after we called Nissan corporation and they agreed to pay 70% of the cost. I called Nissan yesterday 07/19/21 and they returned the call to me today 07/20/21. They told me they are unable to do anything about it since the warranty on the previous transmission had expired. We are now stuck with this car and we are still making payments and we have no idea what to do. I feel this car is not safe at all to be driven on the streets and Nissan should step up and recognize this particular year and model car is defective. Also, I would like to see if Nissan can compensate me for something whether it be the repairs i paid for or if they are willing to replace the transmission, or pay some or all of the remaining balance on the car note I have.

CVT transmission failed on me as I was driving luckily no one got hurt and I was able go pull off the shoulder just in time. Three months later I buy a new transmission and car doesn’t not start sometimes after getting it installed. This year and model NEEDS TO BE RECALLED NOW! I’m not the only person who this has happened to. Enough is enough Nissan! It is nhtsa job to make sure the vehicles we are in are safe! I’m so frustrated and confused on why there hasn’t been recalls on this awful issue yet!

After driving on the freeway in hot weather the car car decelerates and will not accelerate. Car goes from 65 MPH to around 40 MPH. This is a very dangerous situation in traffic. This has happened several times every year since we bought car. I have 'googled' this and it seems to be quite common with this Nissan model. Also other Nissan models. I am afraid to take this car on any road trip. Nissan will not address this issue. Something needs to be resolved before someone gets killed in this car!

Our 2013 Nissan Rogue seatbelt light flashes for no apparent reason. This seems to be a problem that has never been resolved by the manufacturer. It also seems that it is a well documented situation. Nissan should be made to research and give a definite fix without the customer suffering trial and error repairs.

When driving in approximately 90* weather on the highway, we lost all power/pickup and the car wouldn't get over approximately 45mph. This was an extreme safety hazard as the road we were on had no breakdown lane. We were eventually able to pull off the highway and let the vehicle cool for about 20 minutes and then we went backroads for the remainder of the drive. This has happened at least 5 additional times, all when driving on the highway in high temps and when the RPMs on the car are higher than 2K consistently. This is so dangerous and I cannot believe that Nissan isn't doing anything to make this safety issue right.

Purchased this car in 2015 from.Nissan dealership. The car randomly loses power when I'm on the highway. It's happened 3 times within the last 3 months. The car smokes a bit when this happens. Took it to my licensed mechanic who's owns a shop and was told my Transmission was fine, the fluids in the car where up to par and he couldn't find anything wrong with the engine. Was told Nissan Rogue has many issues with the CVT and its worth seeing if there are any open recalls on the car. So I checked by vin number and nothing came up. But as I do my research into other owners that have the same make and model as well year of my car, they are having the same issue. Wondering why hasn't this been looked into.

My car has not felt the same in a while. I got it tested by a few mechanics and finally got the answer. Car makes a humming sound and feels like it’s not using all its power. The mechanic told me it’s the transmission is starting to go. As I did more research I’m finding that this is becoming a common problem with Nissan vehicle owners from 2010-2016 especially the 2013 Nissan Rogue. The car only has 68000 miles since we purchased brand new in 2013.I do all it’s regular maintenance requirements.
