While driving on the highway the car the vehicle shudders/vibrates and the stops accelerating even when the throttle is pressed to the floor. Example: If I am driving at 80 miles an hour with my foot on the throttle, the vehicle will begin to decline in speed (dropping to 70 or 60 miles an hour) and will not accelerate any faster once additional pressure is placed on the throttle. After thorough review, it was found that this is a common issue with the 2013 Nissan Rogues. According to Vehiclehistory.com, Nissan extended the 2013 Nissan Rogue transmission warranty to 10 years and 120,000 miles for the continuously variable transmission (CVT) in the 2013 Rogue. This site, (Nhtsa.gov) also has multiple complaints regarding the Power Train on the 2013 Rogues listing the same issues. Upon contacting the Regal Nissan Dealership located at 1090 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell, GA 30076, I was informed that there is nothing they could do as a formal recall had not been issued for my specific VIN number. I am currently submitting a claim to the BBB National Programs as well.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at a low rate of speed, the vehicle began to jerk as the check engine light illuminated the instrument panel. As the contact continued to drive, the vehicle would not accelerate above 5 MPH. Once the contact and her husband made it home she had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact called County Line Nissan North(522 Winsted Rd, Torrington, CT 06790) and Balise Nissan of West Springfield(500 Riverdale St, West Springfield, MA 01089), and both referred her to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's house and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000

Starting 9/1/21 there was a delayed and jerking reaction when the gas pedal was pressed from a full stop. This was very dangerous when trying to cross intersections during city driving, as the car behind could not anticipate that our car wouldn’t go and our car was not able to cross intersections at normal speed, putting us in the way of other traffic trying to cross. During highway driving the RPMs began to run very high without an associated change in speed, causing the driver to be alarmed. An inspection by our local independent mechanic determined the transmission needs replacement. This diagnosis was then confirmed by our local Nissan dealer. The car is currently available for inspection at the Nissan dealer. There was a check engine or service now light that went on when the car would first turn on, but it would go off when the car was being driven.

Daughter driving to and from work. Car stalls and will not accelerate. It shakes and whistles. I called Nissan Headquarters because I knew other Nissan models have been given a 120,000 mile extended warranty to cover defective transmissions. This particular vehicle is not covered, but on carcomplaints.com it is one of the worst reported vehicles. My daughter is pregnant. This car is not safe and should be a required fixed by company.

CVT transmission and it is available for inspection While traveling on the interstate, on a mild elevation increase, there was an immediate loss of power, dropped from 80 mph to 60-65 mph and the rpms were almost in the red. The vehicle behind us was fortunately paying attention because they changed lanes without hitting us. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer and a third party transmission service center. The Nissan Dealership has inspected the vehicle. There were no indications that the problem would happen.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 70-75 MPH with cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted and decelerated to 50-55 MPH. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle would not exceed 50-55 MPH. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he veered to the side of the road and he turned off the vehicle. The contact stated he restarted the vehicle. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle still failed to exceed 50-55 MPH. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed as the OBD reader could not read the codes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the vehicle was jerking while driving. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist due to the age and mileage of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

Loss of power after driving for an hour or more and going uphill. RPMs will only go to 3000 and unable to accelerate. Driving in heavy traffic going through Salt Lake City interstate 15, had loss of power and was unable to accelerate as traffic slowed and then sped up again. Just returned from the 2245 mile trip and experienced the problem multiple times. One time was parked in a driveway at a slight decline and was unable to back out of the driveway until I waited for the engine to cool off. I did call my local dealer where it was purchased and they told me it was an underlying issue. Will be scheduling a diagnostic check this coming week. No warning lights on dash, just sudden loss of power.

I noticed my vehicle started whining when I would drive up a steep hill. I took it to my mechanic who told me it was the transmission. I then took it to the Nissan dealer who I bought it from who also said I needed a new transmission. My vehicle had 78,900 miles. I called Nissan who was no help at all. The service manager at the the dealership said that they replace about 30 transmissions a month. My cost the the replacement transmission was $4,311.00.

We were driving on a freeway going out of Houston with a speed of 75 mph. Suddenly the car slowed down to 45 mph. This almost caused us to have an accident with motorists from behind. We had to drive the car at 45 mph all the way from Houston, TX to Austin, TX. This was also very dangerous since we had to drive on the shoulder to avoid being rear-ended. This was over two years ago when car had mileage less than 120,000 miles. Nissan refused to replace tranmission (CVT). Their recommendation was to add a transmission cooler. This works up to 68 mph. Over that, computer puts car into "Safe" Mode (45 mph).

I lose power when traveling at high speeds in hot temperatures. I drive on a toll road that is 75MPH, when it is hot out I completely lose all power no matter how much I step on the gas. I slowed down to 40 MPH on a road that is 75. PLEASE figure this out and get it fixed. It is very scary when people are behind you and almost hit you. I put in 1 date that I remember this happening, but it has happened consistently for about 3 years.

For the last 3 years my car on a hill or incline has stop shifting gears and its getting worse and worse every year. My car only has 101,000 miles! I had it for 5 years, took it to a certified mechanic to hear the transmission is going and there are numerous reports of CVT transmission issues with this SUV. And a loud electrical noise all the time. Nissan USA only agreed to pay half of the repairs for the faulty CVT transmission.

CVT transmission failed on me as I was driving luckily no one got hurt and I was able go pull off the shoulder just in time. Three months later I buy a new transmission and car doesn’t not start sometimes after getting it installed. This year and model NEEDS TO BE RECALLED NOW! I’m not the only person who this has happened to. Enough is enough Nissan! It is nhtsa job to make sure the vehicles we are in are safe! I’m so frustrated and confused on why there hasn’t been recalls on this awful issue yet!

When driving in approximately 90* weather on the highway, we lost all power/pickup and the car wouldn't get over approximately 45mph. This was an extreme safety hazard as the road we were on had no breakdown lane. We were eventually able to pull off the highway and let the vehicle cool for about 20 minutes and then we went backroads for the remainder of the drive. This has happened at least 5 additional times, all when driving on the highway in high temps and when the RPMs on the car are higher than 2K consistently. This is so dangerous and I cannot believe that Nissan isn't doing anything to make this safety issue right.

My car has not felt the same in a while. I got it tested by a few mechanics and finally got the answer. Car makes a humming sound and feels like it’s not using all its power. The mechanic told me it’s the transmission is starting to go. As I did more research I’m finding that this is becoming a common problem with Nissan vehicle owners from 2010-2016 especially the 2013 Nissan Rogue. The car only has 68000 miles since we purchased brand new in 2013.I do all it’s regular maintenance requirements.

CVT TRANSMISSION IS FAILING. VEHICLE IS SHUDDERING AND LURCHED DURING ACCELERATION. FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRING ON UPHILL CLIMB ON INTERSTATE. IMMEDIATELY HAD TO EXIT INTERSTATE AS THE VEHICLES SPEED DROPPED DRAMATICALLY IN TRAFFIC WITH OTHER VEHICLES PRESENT. CAR MANUAL EXPLAINS THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT NEED TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP IN THIS CONDITION.

I WAS DRIVING IN THE MORNING, ON A SOMEWHAT BUSY ROAD THAT ACTS AS A SMALL TWO LANE HIGHWAY THAT LEADS TO THE FREEWAY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELT LIKE I HAD GOTTEN A FLAT TIRE AND WAS DRIVING ON THE RIM. NO SOUNDS, JUST DRAMATIC LOSS OF POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON A VERY NARROW SHOULDER. INSPECTED TIRES AND ALL WERE PERFECTLY FINE. I WAITED A FEW, TURNED CAR ON WHICH STARTED JUST FINE. PUT CAR INTO GEAR BUT ABSOLUTELY NO ENGAGEMENT!! NOTHING. WITH FOOT PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, JUST DIDN'T MOVE. RPM'S WERE NORMAL ALONG WITH SPEED ODOMETER. THIS WAS NOT ONLY A SCARY SITUATION TO BE IN KNOWING THAT WHILE IN MOTION THIS VEHICLE LOST ALL ABILITY TO FUNCTION BUT A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND OTHERS. I TRULY HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. NOT OKAY NISSAN NOT OKAY

I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE SELECT WITH 87,000 MILES. IT SHUDDERS/JERKS INTERMITTENTLY DURING IDLE AT DRIVE MODE EVEN WHEN AC AND FAN ARE OFF. UPON DRIVING TO AUSTIN IN FEBRUARY, MY CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER ON A HIGHWAY WITH 70 MPH LIMIT. THE RPM CONTINUED TO G UP , AS DID THE GAS GAGE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. LUCKILY , I WAS NEAR AN EXIT AND ABLE TO COAST OFF TO BARELY MAKE IT TO THE GAS STATION, TO ALLOW THE CAR TO COOL. THE TEMPERATURE GAGE, NEVER RAN HOT. THEN JUST LAST WEEK MAKING THE SAME TRIP, THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE I COULD BE KILLED, OR KILL SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE I AM NOT ABLE TO MOVE AT THE REQUIRED SPEED. I THIN TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN HEADQUARTERS. SOMEONE NAME JEREMY CALLED ME A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER ONLY TO SAY THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. I EVEN MENTIONED THE CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT HE SAID HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE FACTORY ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY, NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS AN ISSUE THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT. I AM INCLUDING PICTURES OF THE REPAIRS. I CAN PROVIDE THE WHOLE REPORT, BUT I DO NOT HAVE A SCANNER AT THE MOMENT. ALSO THE FIRM BRANDSETTER, STRAANCH AND JENNINGS IN TENNESSEE HAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED, LETS NOT ALLOW IT TO GET TO THIS POINT. THANKS.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2013 Nissan Rogue Select verdict →
