Safety recall repairs are free at the brand’s franchised dealers. Before buying, run the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls and make the seller show the work was done.

Steering · 17V184000

Nissan North America (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Murano and Murano Cross Cabriolet vehicles. The power steering hose clamp may not adequately secure the hose, allowing the hose to detach and leak power steering fluid.

Risk: If the power steering fluid leaks onto a heat source such as hot engine or exhaust components, there could be an increased risk of a fire.

Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a power steering high pressure hose kit, free of charge. The recall began May 10, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

The fine print: this verdict is computed from public NHTSA complaint and recall records for the 2013 Nissan Murano as a model, not for any individual car. A well-maintained example of an “Avoid” can outlast a neglected “Buy”. Informational only — always get a professional pre-purchase inspection.
