While I was attempting to park my jeep across the street from my grandson's school to pick him up at 3:18, as I proceeded to pull in front of the apron so I could backup to a parking spot. In the process of going forward before I got a chance to put the jeep in reverse my brakes failed, hitting a parked car in front of me. I had my jeep towed to Old Center Island Auto Service. The mechanic removed a defective power brake booster and replaced it with a new one.

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the contact crashed into the guard rail. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed the steering box shaft was snapped. There were no air bags deployed. There were no injuries or medical treatment on the scene. The police arrived at the scene and contacted a towing service. There were minor damages to the front of the vehicle. There was a police report filed. The vehicle was towed several times; however, ended up at the local independent mechanic. There was an unknown diagnosis. There was a steering box shaft and tie rod end replacement, in addition to an alignment done. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

I PARKED THE JEEP, SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR, WITH ENGINE OFF. WHILE INSIDE THE BUSINESS LOBBY, THE JEEP STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARD INTO A BUSY ROADWAY. THE JEEP GAIN SPEED DUE TO THE INCLINE. AND I DESPERATELY ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE JEEP, BEFORE IT COULD ROLL-AWAY ONTO THE BUSY ROADWAY AND CAUSE INJURIES OR FATALITIES. I WAS RAN OVER BY MY JEEP ' DURING MY DESPERATE AND UNSUCCESSFULL ATTEMPT TO STOP THE ROLL-AWAY JEEP. THE JEEP STOPED, AFTER CRASHING INTO AN ELECTRICAL UTILITIES POLE AT THE CURB-SIDE. I SUFFERED SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY LEG REQUIRING IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE JEEP WAS TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER, FOR AN INSPECTION. WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP, CHRYSLER SENT OUT A PRIVATE CONTRACTOR TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. AS PART OF THE INSPECTION, THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) CRASH-DATA WAS RETRIEVED. I MADE SEVERAL REQUESTS TO CHRYSLER, FOR A COPY OF THE FINAL INSPECTION REPORT. AND WAS REPEATEDLY DENIED THE (ORC) DATA, RETRIEVED FROM MY JEEP WRANGLER. THE CHRYSLER DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT AXLE OF THE JEEP. THE OUT-OF-POCKET COST FOR THE REPAIR WAS $6,859.92. ALSO, I HAD THE JEEP TAKEN TO DIFFERENT JEEP-CHRYSLER DEALER, FOR A SECOND INSPECTION. AFTER PERFORMING DIAGNOSTICS, THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES, WHILE ENGAGED ' WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. THE E-BRAKE WAS REPLACED AT OUT-OF-POCKET COST OF $1,138.41. THE FAILURE MILEAGE, FOR THE 2013 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON WAS 46,600. THE 2011 NHTSA DATABASE POSTED CHRYSLER RECALL NO. B03ALSO, FOR JEEP WRANGLER ROLL AWAYS RESULTING FROM PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY FAILURES. HOWEVER, THE PROBEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED AND CONTINUES AFTER RECALLS. THIS IS A SERIOUS, AND VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE ' IN THAT YOU CAN SEE THESE VEHICLES TURNING INTO UN-GUIDED MISSLES. AND DOING DAMAGE TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY, AS A RESULT OF PARKING BRAKE FAILURES.

MY NEW TO ME, BUT STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA 2DR, CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED THE DAY I GOT IT. IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN 250KMS FROM THE JEEP DEALER TO ME, THEN PARKED UNTIL THE EVENING. I STOPPED AT A STORE A MINUTE UP THE ROAD, LEFT IT IDLING, AND CAME OUT TO FIND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. I CYCLED THE IGNITION, AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. I PROCEEDED TOWARDS HOME, BUT TWO MINUTES LATER THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON, FOLLOWED BY A VERY LOUD BANG, THEN THEN THE SMOKE FROM THE HOOD. I WAS TRAVELLING AT ABOUT 10KM/HR IN A NEIGHBOUTHOOD HAVING JUST TURNED FROM A STOP. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, SMOKE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND FLAMES APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. VEHICLE STARTED AND PLACED IN NEUTRAL, ALLOWED ENGINE TO RUN AND EXITED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, RETURNED TO FIND IT ROLLING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DOWN MY FRONT DRIVEWAY, CRASHING INTO A CULVERT IN MY FRONT LAWN. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE PARKING BRAKE BY CHRYSLER. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 30 + YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE NOT HOLD WITH THE E-BRAKE ENGAGED, (MAYBE WEAK BUT WILL ALWAYS HOLD ON BASICALLY A FLAT SURFACE SUCH AS A GARAGE). THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A SMELL OF BURNING OIL WHILE DRIVING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

I WAS REAR ENDED AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR ANOTHER ACCIDENT IN FRONT OF ME,WHEN MY JEEP GOT REAR ENDED THE MOTOR SPEEDED UP AS I WAS PUSHING DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I COULD FEEL THE ABS WORKING .ONLY AFTER I HIT THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF GEAR DID MY JEEP STOP. MY ENGINE CONTINUE TO RUN AT A VERY HIGH RPM. I WAS ALL MOST INJURED/KILLED BY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER WITH 6300 MILES ON IT WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON ITS OWN AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. ON SEP 16 2013 AT 2100 MY JEEP WAS CAUGHT IN A RAIN SHOWER WITH THE TOP AND DOORS OFF FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE I GOT OFF WORK, I DROVE IT HOME IN THE RAIN AND PUT IT IN THE GARAGE TO DRY OFF, IT WAS NOT THAT WET SO I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST LET IT AIR DRY,MY DRIVE HOME WAS A LITTLE OVER FOUR MILES. AROUND 2200 I WAS IN BED ON THE PHONE WHEN I LOUD BAG (GUN SHOT I THOUGHT) WENT OFF IN MY GARAGE AND I JUMPED TO CLEAR MY HOME, AS I GOT TO THE GARAGE I SEEN THAT MY AIRBAG WENT OFF AND THE GARAGE CEILING WAS FULL OF SMOKE. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS ALSO SMOKING (I THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE) I GOT IT OUT OF MY GARAGE ASP,SO IT DID BURN DOWN MY HOME AND CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPT CAME AND SAID IT WAS OUT AND I LEFT IT OUT SIDE I COVERED IT UP WITH A CAR COVER FOR THE NIGHT. I THE MORNING I CALLED THE 800 # TO JEEP AND GET IT TOWED TO JEEP DEALERSHIP. AFTER A WEEK JEEP HIRED INSPECTOR TO READ THE COMPUTER. JEEP NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY WILL NOT SAY WHY IT WENT OFF AND IT NOT THERE PROBLEM.
