2013 Honda Accord experiencing a VSA modulator failure. The VSA modulator controls the Anti-lock Braking System, which is now not working on my vehicle. The local Honda Dealers have told me this is a common failure (I checked with two different Dealers). The repair cost for parts and labor is approximately $2500, with no guarantee it will not fail again. From research I found that the VSA failures are covered in later year Hondas, but not my year. I also found that other countries have forced Honda to cover these failures. I have filed a case with Honda, but the case was closed with Honda saying they would not do anything to reduce the cost of the replacement VSA modulator, which is being quoted as $2344 (for the part alone). A common safety part, such as the VSA modulator, should be replaced at little or no cost to the Customer.

While driving on [XXX] in Selden, NY on [XXX] @ the speed of approximately 45-50 mph my 2013 Honda Accord Sport (sedan) abruptly, unexpectedly and violently lurched to the left on it's own while I was holding the wheel with my fingers. Thank God I was already in the left lane because my vehicle went off the left shoulder and began to go onto the grass in the median but I was able to recover before completely going of the road. Had I been in the right lane I would have ran into a vehicle in the left lane because traffic was heavy at the time. Up until this point, my car drove straight and true without the need for alignment, air pressure adjustments, brakes or balancing. I know this because I have a little over 95,000 miles on the car and I keep my Honda pristine. However, to rule out the obvious possibilities I had an alignment done and all 4 tires checked for balancing and tire pressure issues. My brakes are in excellent condition and the vehicle did not make any unexpected sounds either before or after the incident and no dash board lights came on before or after the incident. I went to my mechanic and he researched the problem and I was told that the EPS was malfunctioning so he reset the computer and the problem seemed to be rectified. Unfortunately, the problem occurred again, on [XXX] except this time the car lurched to the right with the same intensity. I went back to my mechanic on Friday, June 6, 2025 and after diagnosis I was told that the same problem is occurring with the EPS but this time it cannot be fixed and the cost of repair is approximately $3200.00. I did some research on line and found a ton of information on complaints about faulty EPS systems in multiple year Honda's and an investigation that is ongoing involving the NHTSB about this defect. I went to Baron Honda, in Patchogue, NY and one of their service managers, Steve, says he hasn't heard anything about any of this. I call [XXX]. VSA ABS FCW EPS warning lights, according to Honda dealership it needs a VSA ABS module, these are thousands of dollars and there’s thousands and thousands of pissed off customers. This should be warranted. It looks like honda of Europe did warranty it. I’m not sure what’s going on in honda North America. It can cause the brake pedal to go soft, and is definitely a safety hazard

Very common problem it appears as there are several forum post from other accord owners 2013 and above that have all reported dash lights up with traction control, tire pressure, power steering, ABS and some instances Brake will illuminate on the dash board, and some have reported a combination of these lights or all of them. The culprit is a broken solder on the ABS module from my understanding and its something Honda is aware of but have not recalled. The part itself costs $1500, just for the part and does not include labor. This is a common issue that should be taken care of by honda as its a huge safety issue with the ABS, Traction control, power steering, tire pressure monitoring and brake not working when needed in an emergency situation. This is a huge safety risk that needs to be addressed. It also affects the value of the vehicle if not repaired.

Steering is hard to turn to the right and easy to the left. I suspect bad Electronic Steering Rack and Pinion. Not safe to drive. No warning lights as of yet, but mechanically has symptoms.

The high pressure fuel pump is failing. Had a diagnostic ran with the help of Autozone technicians. Advised to replace it. Looked up recalls for my vehicle and found the same issue. I was driving the vehicle home from work when the vehicle was struggling to move. It is available for inspection. No lights on prior to the fuel pump failure. These lights came on after the incident: check engine light, steering wheel with the exclamation mark, traction control, and the tire pressure light blinks then remains on.

The contact stated that upon having the vehicle appraised to sell the vehicle, a Carfax report discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was approximately 120,000; however, according to the Carfax report, as of October 2024, the vehicle mileage was approximately 217,000.

Failure to start problems began about 3 years ago. Initially we had to push the start button several times to get the car started. It got progressively worse. We paid $810. to replace the starter with a remanufactured starter part. The dealership said they used the remanufactured part because it had a 3 year warranty while a new starter would have only a 1 year warranty. It worked for 3 or 4 months and then started to act up again. The dealership replaced the starter again with another remanufactured starter part in November of "24. Now it is March of "25 and my wife is marking the calendar again on the days the starter malfunctions which has been several days in the past month. We have been left stranded and I fear this could result in a serious safety problem if it happended in heavy traffic or some other vulnerable situation. There are many Honda starter complaints on the internet! Why hasn't there been a recall?

I heard it last week on the radio about this Honda issue & said it was a safety & braking issue. My 2013 Honda Accord touring with 110,000 miles all of a sudden all the lights on the dash came on. I took it to the dealer. The dealer told me that the electronic control module or the vehicle stability control module was bad. At that time, the dealer could not get the part and at that time, the part was $1400so a year later. when I had the money I went to get the car fixed at that point the part was $2600. It cost me $3500 to get the vehicle repaired. It was not under warranty. There was no recall and I was left holding the bag I have found there are many cases of the same part going bad and Honda refuses to accept responsibility, leaving us owners out in the cold.

Traction Control/ABS/Brake lights turn on 122-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction and 83-11 which causes pcm malfunction. This is a known problem with Honda vehicles and should be a recall. When this error occurs traction/abs/brake, LDW fcw are disabled. The fix for this is over $1000.00.

Malfunctioning sensors associated with the ABS and stability systems. -Repair Details: Replacement of the VSA modulator unit is often necessary. Cost of repair typically ranges between $2,000 and $3,000. Many owners report delays in repairs due to part availability. -Reports and Complaints: Numerous complaints can be found on forums, owner groups, and repair sites detailing identical failures in 2013–2017 Honda Accords. Commonly reported safety risks include increased stopping distances and difficulty maintaining control on slippery roads. Honda’s Response: Some owners report that Honda dealerships acknowledge the issue but do not offer repairs under warranty unless an extended warranty is in place. There is an already a recall for the VSA modulators for 2022 Accords. I believe this should be extended to their earlier models with the same issues.

The car has keyless entry and push button to start. Recently I noticed the car was not able to start correctly when pushing the push button. Sometimes it can start but it needs the keyfob to be very close to the push button. 3 days ago the car wont start at all no matter how I tried it. Testes battery and starter all are at working condition. I suspected the keyless push start button is faulty.
