The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, it inadvertently started rolling while the engine was not running. The contact's wife was in the vehicle while rolling. The contact attempted to stop the vehicle; however, he was stuck between the driver's door of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into another vehicle and damaged its front bumper because the nearby vehicle was backed in at the parking lot. The driver's door was bent up to the front fender and the passenger door was damaged, in addition, to the possible front driver-side fender. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags were not deployed. There were no police on the scene, or report filed. The contact was taken to the emergency by a family member. The contact also damaged his eyewear. The contact left and right heels were scraped, along with bones damages, the right, and left leg shingles, and the right eye. The contact received medical treatment for his eye and legs and both heels. The contact still receives medical treatments. The failure was related to the recall of NHTSA Campaign Number 22V413000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

The transmission went out of gear and wouldn't stay in the correct gear. I had the vehicle towed to Fuller Ford on W 8th Street in Cincinnati Ohio. They said the entire transmission had to be replaced and that there wasn't a recall affecting my VIN number. I paid to have it repaired. Eight months later, there was an electrical fire under the hood and the vehicle was towed to Rocky Top Ford in Tennessee. I feel both of these issues should have been covered by recalls.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that she had stopped her vehicle near a stop sign and shifted to park. Another vehicle drove by as the contact's vehicle independently rolled forward at approximately 3 MPH and crashed into the passenger rear door of a moving vehicle. The contact stated that her vehicle had minor scrapes to the driver's side bumper and there were minor scratches to the passenger door of the other vehicle. The contact stated she went to the ER the following day with neck pains. There were no other injuries to the other driver or her passenger. The police were on scene but did not file a report. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact owned a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact had just parked the vehicle, and as she was exiting was backed over by the vehicle. The contact was knocked over by the open driver's side door and pulled under the vehicle by the tires. The contact suffered a "grade 2" concussion, facial lacerations, and multiple abrasions and bruises over her body. The contact had three broken ribs on the right chest area and two ribs on the left side. Additionally, the contact had severe bruises on her right clavicle and right shoulder. The contact was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The vehicle had rolled into a neighbor's yard and crashed into a fence, which resulted in minor scratches to the back bumper. The contact stated that the fence had sustained no damage. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to have it diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN A DRIVEWAY AND IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENTER THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT WHILE IT WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS AND WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED TRAILER IN A YARD ACROSS THE STREET. THE CONTACT HAD SCRAPES ON HIS ARMS AND LEGS AND RECEIVED TREATMENT FOR INJURIES TO HIS SHOULDER, ARM AND BACK. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED BY AN AMBULANCE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AFTER HE WAS DIAGNOSED AT AN URGENT CARE CENTER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE AND PARKED BACK IN THE CONTACT'S DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE ISSUE MAY BE WITH THE BUSHING CABLE NOT ALLOWING HIS VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THUS ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL. THE VIN TOOL SHOWED NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME. WE WERE ABOUT 1 HOUR & 30 MINUTES INTO OUR TRIP, 108 MILES, FROM OUR HOME NEAR THE CITY OF FLATONIA, TX WHEN OUR TRANSMISSION HORRIFICALLY FAILED. WHILE I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION HAD A MADE A HARD SHIFT INTO 6TH GEAR. IT HAD JUMPED A COUPLE OF TIMES UNTIL I ACCELERATED AND THEN IT FINALLY SHIFTED INTO 6TH GEAR. THE NEXT SIGN OF TROUBLE WAS WHEN THE DASH SCREEN TOLD US THE LANE CHANGE SENSOR WAS FAILING. NEXT WE STARTED NOTICING A FAINT BURNING SMELL COMING INTO THE CABIN, WE WEREN'T SURE WHAT IT WAS. A MINUTE LATER ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON IN THE DASH SCREEN. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY TURN SIGNAL SO I COULD GET TO AN EXIT AND WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC, I REALIZED MY FORD ESCAPE WAS NOT RESPONDING TO THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. SO NOW I COULDN'T SHIFT AND MY GAS PEDAL WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THANKFULLY THE SMOKE STOPPED AND I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW TRANSMISSION OIL ALL OVER THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS SO HOT IT WAS BOILING IN THE CREVICES WHERE IT HAD SETTLED. THIS TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE "A SPECIAL BLEND OF TRANSMISSION FLUID MAINTENANCE FREE FOR THE LIFE OF THE GEARBOX." A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR THE TRANSMISSION WOULD JUMP ERRATICALLY WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2-3 GEAR AND FROM 5-6 GEAR EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.BUT I HAD TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T HELP AT ALL.

I LITERALLY THOUGHT I HAD BEEN REAR ENDED AT ONE POINT AS THE CAR JOLTED SO HARD. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE ROADWAY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE SERVICE NOW LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS CONSISTANT WITH THE PCM WIRING HARNESS RECALL DONE ON OTHER 2013 ESCAPES BUT WAS NOT COVERED FOR MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THE JOLTS TO THE VEHICLE KICKING IN GEAR DESTROYED THE TRANSMISSION. IN ORDER TO PARK IN THE SINGLE BAY OF OUR THREE CAR SIDE ENTRY ATTACHED GARAGE, YOU HAVE TO PULL UP TO THE POST BETWEEN THE DOUBLE AND SINGLE BAYS, BACK UP AND PULL FORWARD. WITH THE ENGINE RACING I WAS ABLE TO USE THE START/STOP BUTTON TO STOP THE ENGINE. THE POST WAS DRIVEN OVER THREE FEET INTO THE GARAGE AND THE EXPEDITION WAS HIT WITH SO MUCH FORCE THAT IT JUMPED ABOUT AN INCH ONTO THE CEMENT CURB IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE. HITTING THE EXPEDITION PREVENTED THE GARAGE POST (WOOD AND BRICK) FROM TOTALLY COLLAPSING. THE ESCAPE HAS THE 1.6L ECO-BOOST ENGINE AND WAS PURCHASED IN OCT. 2012. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD'S RAV DEPT, I HAVE TWEETED TO @FORD, @FORDSERVICE, @FORDESCAPE ABOUT MY CAR'S ISSUES YET THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED ME BACK ABOUT WHERE MY REPURCHASE CHECK IS AT OR TRY TO GET ME A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE THIS PROCESS IS OCCURRING. THEY ARE AWARE MY CAR'S OVERHEATING AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES. *TR

MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING WHEN I DRIVE UPHILL AND IT'S CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV AT REDLINE. WHEN I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM LA OVER THE WEEKEND, THE CAR STRUGGLED THE ENTIRE DRIVE. SOMETHING WAS BURNING UNDER THE HOOD. THE ENGINE WAS ALSO OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING UPHILL. FORD AGREED TO BUYBACK THIS DEATH TRAP IN MID DEC 2013 BUT THEY HAVE BEEN STALLING THE ENTIRE PROCESS. APPARENTLY MY CHECK IS MISSING. I DON'T WANT TO BE IN THIS CAR WHEN EITHER IT BURST INTO FLAMES, THE TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE SEIZES. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE CAR WAS AT A STOP WHEN IT ACCELERATED SUDDENLY FOR A SHORT BURST. THE BRAKES DID NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE IN ONE SPOT AND SHE TAPPED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER CAUSE TWO MINOR SCRATCHES ON THE OTHER VEHICLE'S BUMPER. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THE OTHER VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE ESCAPE DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY NOTICEABLE DAMAGE. THE ESCAPE IS HEADING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. THIS HAS ONLY OCCURRED ONCE THAT WE KNOW OF BUT I HAVE NOTICED ONCE THAT THE VEHICLE DID JUMP A BIT IN RPMS AND SPEED WHILE DRIVING IT AT A STEADY SPEED ON A FAIRLY FLAT ROAD. *TR
