VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCE IN TOWN (LESS THAN 10 MILES IN 10-20 DEGREE WEATHER), NO WARNING LIGHTS NO OVERHEATING OR SMOKE. 10 MINUTES AFTER CAR WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF, CAR IGNITED IN DRIVEWAY IN ENGINE. OIL HAD NEVER EVEN BEEN CHANGED SINCE BOUGHT USED FROM DEALER A FEW MONTHS PRIOR; HAD PUT ON LESS THAN 2000 MILES SINCE PURCHASED. TOTAL LOSS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SLIGHTLY AND THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY LUNGED FORWARD INDEPENDENTLY. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT STRUCK THE DASHBOARD AND WAS INJURED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. HUB CITY FORD IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

2013 FORD EDGE FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE. LEAVING THE RESIDENCE. ONCE PASSED THE CONTROL OF THE SECURITY AGENT OF THE RESIDENCE. I ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY AND THEN HEAR A RATHER DEAFENING NOISE. I STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND PROCESS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY AS I FEEL THE BODY WARM. ONCE I GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND RUN TO A SAFE PLACE ABOUT 40 FEET AWAY, I THROW MYSELF ON THE GROUND AND LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND SEE THAT THE VEHICLE IS BURNING. I CAN SEE THAT THE FIRE IS CONSUMING THE VEHICLE AND CAN OBSERVE FIRE INSIDE THE VEHICLE COMING OUT OF THE WINDOWS AND FIRE THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE THAT GOES FROM THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE DOWN THE SIDE. AND THE FIRE RUNS TO THE GAS TANK.
