The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been involved in a crash due to brake failure, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the guardrail. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the front passenger side seat belt, door, fender, tire, CV joint axle, bumper, bumper cover, headlights, and grill had been replaced. A police report was filed. The contact suffered neck pain, and medical treatment was received. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving at an undisclosed speed; the brake pedal was extremely firm while depressed and made a hissing sound. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the air bag module was reset. The contact was informed that there was no brake failure. The vehicle was then taken to Simmons-Rockwell Ford, Inc. (1160 Co Rd 66, Hornell, NY 14843), and the contact was informed that the VIN was included in the Customer Satisfaction Program: 13N02 (Extended Warranty Coverage On Brake Booster); however, the vehicle exceeded the mileage limitations. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

I ve been having to pump my brakes and push real hard to make them work. I ve been told by local mechanic that it is the POWER BRAKES BOOSTER I ve called my local Ford dealer where I bought my car, Oxmoor Ford I was told the brake repair warranty was for 10 years and no longer applied to my car. I only have 45,00 miles. Please help extend the warranty on my car since I am still in the 10th year. They said it ended April 25, 2013 I did have a wreck earlier this year- I rear ended someone- could have been the brakes. Don t know

I have a 2013 ford edge and I was driving at 40=45 mph and when I came up to a light the brake peddle went to the floor and was very hard to stop. The result was me having to leave the road to the right to avoid a collision. I took it to ford who stated it needed a brake booster and said my vehicle doesn't qualify for an extended warranty on the booster. Car had 88k miles at time of incident.prior to the incident no lights or signs. After this I hear a loud hissing noise from under dash.

The Brake Booster continually fails on this vehicle. It is part of a much larger issue that Ford has acknowledged. On more than 30 occasions the brake booster has failed causing the brakes to fail. The latest happened today (03/30/23) when I had to brake hard to avoid a near head-to-head collision. This time, when the brakes failed I had to swerve into oncoming traffic, then back into my lane after passing the vehicle that came into our lane from a cross street. We were going UNDER the speed limit, which is 45MPH at that intersection. I was finally able to stop after using the manual shifting option to downshift and slow the car enough that the brakes would actually work. The pedal went to the floor when I had to hit the brakes hard to try and avoid the oncoming vehicle. When I contacted Ford I was asking about: Extended warranty coverage on brake booster Campaign# 13N02 I was told by Ford that this vehicle is not covered under this campaign, even though it states that the vehicle must be no more than 10 years old (it is a 2013 vehicle, AND sold as a 2013 vehicle by description from Ford Motor Company) and it is under the 150,000 mile limit. There are a LOT of people that are facing this issue as well, ergo the campaign from Ford. THEY recognize that this is an issue - this should be a recall, not some sort of campaign that Ford is using to try and avoid one. The three of us nearly lost our live THIS time when the brakes failed. How many people WILL die before this actually becomes a recall? The same should be said of the Ford Campaign #19N09 - Door latch failure. The door could come open while driving under this campaign. These should be recalls that Ford MUST fix. Please do not let my Granddaughter get into a crash because of this. She is our ward because of Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Scoliosis and other issues that she faces in life. Isn't that enough for her to deal with? What is this was YOUR Granddaughter? Would it be a recall then?

We were driving in the mountains and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor before engaging. This caused us to almost hit a vehicle in front of us, swerved successfully, but then my wife and I have whiplash pain from the instant, hard stop. Took it to a Brakes Plus and they said air in the lines was the cause and flushed the lines. Worked for a few days, then almost got into another accident with the same issue of the brake pedal falling to the floor before engaging. Took it back to Brakes Plus and they notified us that Ford is well aware of this issue and extended the warranty of the Brake Booster, which is known to fail. Took it to Ford, they happily replaced the brake booster, under the warranty, but then said this is not the issue, we need to replace the HCU Assembly and replace the master cylinder. Which, conveniently, is not under warranty. Ford is playing with peoples lives, knowing having faulty parts installed on vehicles and not taking ownership and replacing the parts needed to safely operate their vehicles. When I asked if I can complain, they gave me your web-address instead of trying to make things right. The only response I received worth a penny, is keep your receipts, maybe we can reimburse you, if I/m not dead, when we decide to take ownership.

The Brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge failed resulting in an accident with my 17 year old son on 1-11-22. The pedal was pressed all the way down, and only the emergency break stopped the vehicle. When pressing it brake, it was as if there were no brakes whatsoever. We had a total brake job done on 8-6-2021. on 9-19-21 the car would hardly come to a complete stop, same issue that my son encountered. The pedal would go all the way down and the pedal would hiss during this time. We had the brake booster replaced. So in a span of 1 month and an half we spent $1,600.25 only for the issue to occur again to put my sons life and others at Risk. I have been doing some research and this is a common issue with this particular vehicle. Ford did do an partial recall of this apparently, but our vehicle was not part of this. There are many instances of the Ford Edge having this exact same problem that Ford does not seem to want to address. This car is unsafe. We will be selling this back to the dealership as we are not comfortable to drive it. There are many parts to the brake system that can cause this from the Power Booster, the ABS injector and the Master Brake Cylinder. There are many instances where this is a very intermittent problem. The issue occurs, and then the mechanics can't find anything wrong. there are hundreds of testimonies online for this vehicle and the issues that it has.
