TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON AN INCLINE, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LEFT THE VEHICLE IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND TEMPORARILY EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. BALISE FORD OF CAPE COD (90 HIGH SCHOOL ROAD EXT, HYANNIS, MA 02601, (508) 815-4007) REPLACED THE IGNITION IN DECEMBER OF 2016, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME BY THE DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.

2013 FORD EDGE FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE. LEAVING THE RESIDENCE. ONCE PASSED THE CONTROL OF THE SECURITY AGENT OF THE RESIDENCE. I ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY AND THEN HEAR A RATHER DEAFENING NOISE. I STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND PROCESS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY AS I FEEL THE BODY WARM. ONCE I GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND RUN TO A SAFE PLACE ABOUT 40 FEET AWAY, I THROW MYSELF ON THE GROUND AND LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND SEE THAT THE VEHICLE IS BURNING. I CAN SEE THAT THE FIRE IS CONSUMING THE VEHICLE AND CAN OBSERVE FIRE INSIDE THE VEHICLE COMING OUT OF THE WINDOWS AND FIRE THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE THAT GOES FROM THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE DOWN THE SIDE. AND THE FIRE RUNS TO THE GAS TANK.

WE WERE TRAVELING ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE OTHER VEHICLE AT ABOUT 15-20 MPH. MY WIFE SUFFERED A FRACTURED LEG AND I BACK ISSUES. THE CRASH WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO TOTAL THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED SO FAST I DID NOT APPLY BRAKES. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS AN OLDER DODGE DAKOTA PICKUP.

I WAS AT A GAS STATION. I FORGOT TO PUT THE CAR INTO "PARK". HOWEVER, I WAS ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE KEY AND LOCK THE DOOR. I HAD MY BACK TO THE CAR WHEN I WAS PUTTING MY CREDIT CARD INTO THE PUMP. I HEARD SCREAMS AS PEOPLE RAN OUT OF THE MARKET AND YELLED THAT THE CAR WAS MOVING DOWN A HILL. AS I TURNED I SAW MY CAR CRASH INTO A PARKED TRAILER (18 WHEEL TYPE.) ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A LOT OF DAMAGE TO MY FRONT END AND I BENT THE STEEL STEP ON THE CAB NO ONE WAS HURT. MY DOG MERELY FLEW INTO THE WELL OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD MANY FRIENDS CHECK THEIR CARS AND NO ONE WAS ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE KEY UNLESS THE CAR WAS IN PARK. HOWEVER, THESE CARS WERE NOT A FORD EDGE. SINCE THE ACCIDENT I HAVE TESTED MY CAR MANY TIMES AND I CAN ALWAYS PULL THE KEY OUT. AS YOU KNOW WHEN A CAR IS IN DRIVE IT ACTS LIKE ITS IN NEUTRAL AND CAN REACT TO INERTIA. AT THE TIME I WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS ON A SLANTED DRIVEWAY. A CHILD IN MY CAR COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS INJURY. SOMEONE NOT PAYING ATTENTION COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY MY CAR. I CHECKED WITH MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE FORD EDGE ABOUT MY SAFETY ISSUE. LOCAL DEALER NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING AND I CAN NOT REACH A LIVE PERSON AT THE FORD'S WORLD HEADQUARTERS. THERE IS NO PROMPT FOR A SAFETY CONCERN.. AS OF NOW I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMGES TO MY CAR AND TO THE CAB. LEFT FRONT BUMPER AND LIGHT DAMAGED.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ALL FOUR PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED INJURIES. TWO OF THE PASSENGERS WERE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS HAD A LUMBAR FRACTURE, ONE HAD AN UPPER AND LOWER SPINAL FRACTURE, THE THIRD HAD A VERTEBRAL FRACTURE, AND THE DRIVER HAD ABRASIONS. THE THREE PASSENGERS HAD TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL: TWO WERE DISCHARGED ON THE NOVEMBER 19, 2015 AND ONE HAD TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THIS TIME WHEN THE DEALERSHIP TOOK IT APART TO REPLACE, THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS INSIDE, SO THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE UNIT. HORRIBLE SMELL, VERY CAUSTIC, MAKES MY NOSE BURN. HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING AND WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP OR SLOW DOWN THE CABIN FILLS WITH A NOXIOUS SMELL.

LATEST EVENT ON 5/22/2015 WHERE THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. IN BOTH INCIDENTS, WE WERE LUCKY IN THAT NOBODY WAS INJURED. THE SURGES LAST ABOUT 4 TO 5 SECONDS.THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NOTHING IS DONE TO STOP THE SURGE EXCEPT PUSH HARDER ON THE BREAK PEDAL. FUTURE FORD SERVICE MANAGER STATED NOTHING CAN BE DONE WITHOUT POSITIVE PROOF IN THE ERROR CODES.

I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND I COULD SEE THE FLAMES AND SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE CAR. MY HUSBAND JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND I COULDN'T OPEN MY DOOR. MY HUSBAND THEN HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON HIS SIDE AND THEN CAME AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND GOT ME OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS CRYING AND TERRIFIED. A BUSINESS MAN CAME FROM ACROSS THE STREET AND TRIED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. HE HAD TO RETURN BACK TO HIS BUSINESS AND OUR NEW CAR WAS STILL ON FIRE. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED AWAY. I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL. I WAS SORE FROM WHERE THE SEATBELT WAS AND FROM BEING SO BADLY JERKED BACK AND FORTH. I AM STILL RECEIVING SOME MEDICAL CARE. THE DRIVER OF THE HONDA ODYSSEY WAS FOUND AT FAULT AND ISSUED A TICKET. WE HAVE YET TO FIND OUT WHY THIS CAR STARTED ON FIRE. NO ONE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP COULD OR WOULD ANSWER THAT QUESTION. CAN YOU FIND THE ANSWER THIS QUESTION? IS THERE A DEFECT IN THIS CAR?
