WHILE RIDING MOTORCYCLE THERE WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE U-JOINT/DRIVE SHAFT CAUSING THE MOTORCYCLE TO STOP WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. REAR WHEEL SUBSEQUENTLY LOCKED UP. DAMAGE WAS CAUSED TO THE SWING ARM BY THE DRIVE SHAFT. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS SMOKING DUE TO THE HEAT CREATED. OVER $3100. IN DAMAGES. THIS IS THE SECOND BMW MOTORCYCLE I'VE OWNED THAT THE SAME CATESTROPHIC FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON. I HAVE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS I'D BE HAPPY TO SHARE.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2013 BMW R 1200 Rt verdict →
