MOTORCYCLE WAS BOUGHT NEW FROM A DEALERSHIP WITH A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK. IT WAS REPLACED AFTER PURCHASE UNDER WARRANTY. THE TANK IS BEGINNING TO CRACK ONCE AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME ABOUT A YEAR LATER. CRACKING FUEL TANKS POSES A RISK OF NOT ONLY GETTING STRANDED BUT POTENTIAL FUEL LEAKS AND SUBSEQUENT ASSOCIATED FIRES. THE CRACK OCCURS ALONG THE SEAM BY THE SEAT ALONG THE RIM OF THE FUEL TANK.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2013 BMW F800 GS verdict →
