The TIPMs system has been recalled in multiple vehicles and has causes a fuel pump relay failure and numerous other electrical issues . Chryslers recall has yet to include this year make and model despite the fact the identical part is used in the recalled vehicles. Chrysler is picking and choosing which vehicles this recall applies to and it’s putting families at risk of the TIPM failing and leaving them stranded at any time. Chrysler has a packaged replacement part under “recall pricing” but refuses to cover labor to install the new part on certain vehicles.

Fuel Relay System Failure When searching online apparently this is such an extremely common issue there is a special bypass part that was made, and part of a recall for durangos and jeeps but not the town and country, even though this part is failing all the time in this vehicle as well. Before it went completely dead, it did fail once when I was driving, which is a huge safety issue. I was lucky it started again and that I wasn’t going very fast. I didn’t know at the time that is was the fuel relay system failing until it finally stopped working and my car no longer started. Once bypassed with the bypass part it started immediately, however I had to buy the bypass part to confirm. This should be a recalled issue though, since it is an extremely hazardous issue if it causes failures while driving

Has had some issues trying to turn on after sitting over night. It will just kill the battery but it just started to die while driving and the entire system shuts off. All the lights, the steering wheel locks up and gas goes out. All you can do is brake and hope that you can stop in a good spot before it dies fully. This has happened a few times with my kids in the car and now I just don’t dare to drive. The tipm needs to be recalled.

Confirmed cylinder number 2 misfire. Performed relative compression test and intake trace pull. Confirmed that number two has low compression and is directly affecting cylinder number fives intake pull. removed spark plug and did a compression test on cylinder 2 it had 90psi of compression and the rest of the cylinders were at 148psi of compression. used a bore scope and found cylinder damage in video attached vehicle needs a new engine to correct customers concern. When going up a small incline at 30-45mph engine would stall out. I have 3 little kids and I drive a lot for my job and want to be safe on the road! Also my blind spot detectors have constantly been on since about 75,000 miles. It’s kind of a distraction when you are driving at night.

The External Fuel Pump Relay has failed causing stalling conditions while driving and starting problems. Along with that, it has drained the battery due to not turning the fuel pump off after the car is turn off. The part was recalled on the Jeep and Durango models with the same 3.6L engine. There have been many reports of this online with Town and Country and Dodge Caravan models with the 3.6L and 5.7L engines.

Bad relay module: 1. Battery drained while parked in garage overnight, multiple occasions. 2. Fuel pump continued to run and make noise when the vehicle is shut off. 3. Chrysler dealer performed diagnosis and confirmed that the TIPM require replacement, replacement part will take additional two months to arrive. 4. Engine stalled while making low speed right turn at high traffic intersection and nearly caused accident with children onboard. Likely caused by shut off fuel pump. 5. The vehicle is absolutely unsafe to drive and require immediate repair.

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the vehicle would not immediately start. The contact was able to start the vehicle after several attempts. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump relay had failed and needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic also advised the contact that the manufacturer had made a bypass kit for the failure. The fuel pump relay was bypassed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

WHEN TRYING TO START START BUTTON IS PUSHED, VAN TURNS OVER, STARTS FOR ~2 SECONDS AND SHUTS OFF. TAKES SEVERAL TRIES TO GET IT TO COMPLETELY START AND CONTINUE RUNNING. ALSO WHEN TURNING VAN OFF. PUSH BUTTON, VAN STOPS RUNNING, HOWEVER, IT SWITCHES TO ACCESSORY AND TAKES SEVERAL TIMES PUSHING BUTTON TO SWITCH TO OFF AND STAY THERE. VEHICLE IS ON LEVEL GROUND AND STATIONARY PARKED POSITION. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A MONTH OFF AND ON. RECENTLY THE LAST WEEK.

THE VAN WOULD NOT CRANK WHEN I GOT READY TO LEAVE WORK. I WAITED A BIT, PUT MY HALO CHARGER ON IT AND IT CRANKED. THE NEXT MORNING IT WOULD NOT CRANK. IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO KEPT IT FOR 4 DAYS AND TOLD US WE NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS THE TIPM, $1600 TO REPLACE, BUT $400 TO DO A BYPASS.

THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS FAULTY. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. ONCE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. MY MECHANIC SAID THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SAME SET UP AS THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THAT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND THE PARTS TO REPLACE THE RELAY ARE NOT AVAILABLE. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY MORE. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE SAFETY OF OWNERS. MY WIFE WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THE VAN COMPLETELY STALLED OUT WHILE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS APPROACHING. LUCKILY, SHE WAS ABLE TO MANUVER INTO A TURN LANE TO AVOID A COLLISION. WE'VE ALSO HAD NUMEROUS TIMES THAT IT WOULD GLITCH OUT WHILE DRIVING BUT NOT STALL.

THE VEHICLE DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY START AND HAS A CHANCE OF FAILURE WHEN IN OPERATION. I HAVE THE VEHICLE IN A SHOP AND IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A FUEL PUMP RELAY THAT IS NOT CONSISTENTLY RECEIVING POWER. THIS HAS BEEN A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITHIN THE TIPM SYSTEM BUT NO RECALLS ARE OPEN ON THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE.

LET IT SIT FOR HALF AN HOUR AND IT STARTED ON FIRST CRANK SO I LET IS IT RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES. TURNED OFF AND LEFT FOR AN HOUR OR SO TRIED AGAIN AND HAD TO REPEAT ENTIRE PROCESS...VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BECAUSE WE'RE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. ORIGINAL OWNER IS IN A VA HEALTHCARE FACILITY AND HIS DAUGHTER AND ME (HUSBAND ARE HANDLING HIS AFFAIRS. BECAUSE OF THAT IT IS MY CONTACT INFO IMPUTED.

IN STARTING VAN, ENGINE WAS TURNING OVER WHEN KEY TURNED BUT NOT TO THE POINT OF RUNNING. AFTER 5-8 ATTEMPTS IT WOULD CRANK AND ALSO SPUTTERED IN BETWEEN ATTEMPTS. CAR WAS STATIONARY. THIS WAS A SUDDEN ONSET OF SYMPTOMS THAT HAPPENED ON VACATION. RECOGNIING WE HAD ADDITIONAL DAYS ON OUR TRIP PLUS THE RIDE HOME, I TOOK TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. IN ROUTE, IT SPUTTERED LIKE IT WANTED TO QUIT. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED PRESSURE TEST AND DIAGNOSIS. I THEN LEARN BY SEARCHING THAT 2011 VANS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SAME ISSUES. WITH A RETURN HOME INTERSTATE TRIP OF 600 MILES, I THANKFUL I HAD REPAIRED NOW READING WHAT HAS HAPPENED WITH THE 2011 RELATED ACCIDENTS AND PROBLEMS.

MY VAN NEEDS A NEW TIPM. THIS IS A RECALL FOR SOME CHRYSLER VEHICLES UNDER P54/NHTSA 14V-530. WHY DOES THIS NOT INCLUDE ALL CHRYSLER VEHICLES? THE VAN STARTS INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES WITHOUT ISSUE OTHER TIMES TAKES MINUTES AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN MARCH OF 2016 FOR THE PURPOSES OF TRANSPORTING 2 DISABLED FAMILY MEMBERS. FIRST, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WE'RE NOT WORKING. WHEN I WOULD DRIVE WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WOULD JUST SHUT OFF I FEARED GETTING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES. THEN THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WOULD STAY ON AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF UNTIL IT WOULD DRAIN THE BATTERY. AFTER, NOW MY VEHICLE CRANKS BUT DOESN'T START AT ALL. THIS IS A HAZARD AND DANGEROUS WHAT I AM AFRAID OF IS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN LOOKED AT BY THE PROPER DEPARTMENT OR AUTHORITY. I ALSO BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO CHRYSLER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT ASSIST WITH THE ISSUE AND NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED FOR 5 MONTHS NOW.

2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY PURCHASED SECOND HAND AT 84.000 MILES VEHICLE STARTED THEN FOLLOWING AT 86,000 MILES. LIGHTS SENSOR WOULD ACTIVATE LIGHTS WITHOUT INPUT FROM REMOTE OR DRIVER. THEN THE LIGHTS STOPPED SENSING WHEN TO CHANGE AND HAS TO BE ACTIVATED IN MANUAL. VEHICLE WINDOWS WOULD NOT REMAIN UP AND LOCKED WHEN MANUALLY INPUTTED TO DO SO OR ACTIVATED TO DO SO WITH REMOTE. INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY SWITCH ON AND RUN THE BATTERY DEAD. THIS RESULTED IN MANY JUMPSTARTS. VEHICLE BEGAN TO USE FUEL LIKE 30.00 WEEKLY WITH NORMAL DRIVING OF MY FAMILY TO 30.00 EVERY TWO TO THREE DAYS WITH NO CHARGE IN DRIVING. THIS INCREASED WHEN THE FAMILY NEEDS TO DRIVE INCREASED TO ALMOST 20.00 DAILY. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ON AN INCLINE WOULD STAY AT 30 MPH DESPITE YOU PRESSING THE GAS AND IT WOUL REV. VEHICLE WOULD DECORATE AND ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN MERIT, ONE COULD PRESS THE GAS AND IT WOULDN'T INCREASE GOING UP AN INCLINE CAUSING ANY TO MANEUVER AROUND YOU TO AVOID COLLISION AND THE IT WOULD ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN MERIT. VEHICLE LIFT GATE WOULD NOT REMAIN LOCKED WHEN SECURED WHETHER BY REMOTE OR MANUAL. LIFT GATE ALSO STOPPED SENSING AND HAS ALMOST LOCKED MY SMALL DISABLED A CHILDREN IN BETWEEN WHERE IT CLOSES. VEHICLE LIGHTS WOULD STOP WORKING WITH SENSING IN THE AUTO MODE. HAVE TO MANUALLY USE THEM THEN INTERNAL LIGHTS WOULD COME IN AND KILL THE BATTERY. THE SIGNALS IN THE DASH HAD MAJOR MALFUNCTIONS YOU WOULD GET THE AIRBAG, CHECK ENGINE AND VARIOUS LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT WOULD NOT WORK AS YOU CHANGE A FUSE IT WOULD BLOW. THE PASSENGER DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WITH REMOTE INPUT OR MANUAL LOCK DOOR CAN OPEN WHEN DRIVING. REAR WINDOWS WOULD OPEN ON THEIR OWN MERIT USUALLY CAUSING ANIMAL TO GET IN. THE CAR FUEL PUMP WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING UNTIL THE BATTERY DIED OR THE TERMINAL WAS REMOVED. THE SCREEN SAID DISPLAY IS HOT.*DT*TP

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2012 Chrysler Town And Country verdict →
