TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WENT TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOM AHL CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM (617 KING AVE, LIMA, OH 45805, (419) 909-6322) THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC 'S DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY, CONNECTOR, AND REPROGRAMMED THE FUEL RELAY. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.

VEHICLE WILL NOT START NOT GETTING FUEL, REMOTE START WON'T WORK.THE PROBLEMS ARE RELATED TO A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY AND THE NO-START OFTEN OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD AND PROGRESSIVELY GET WORSE. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO A RECALL FOR FAULTY FUEL RELAYS THAT ARE VERY COMMON IN 2011-2013 VEHICLES, LIKE THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE DURANGOS BUT THEY WERE THE ONLY VEHICLES RECALLED. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT SOMETIMES DAYS APART OR MULTIPLE TIMES THE SAME DAY. I AN DATING THIS TODAY BUT HAVE HAD ISSUES SINCE DECEMBER 2018 IF NOT LONGER.

ALSO, MY WINDOWS ROLL DOWN RANDOMLY AND THE HORN GOES OFF RANDOMLY AS WELL WHEN THE TRUCK IS ON. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE TIPM FOR MY VEHICLE AND IT SAYS THE AIR BAGS CAN GO OFF AT ANY TIME AS WELL. HOPEFULLY, YALL DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THE TIPM DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING WITHOUT CAUSE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I WAS JUST INFORMED BY MY REPAIR SHOP THAT MY TRUCK REQUIRES A NEW TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. THIS PART COSTS $1300. IT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REGULATING POWER TO MANY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN THE TRUCK INCLUDING THE FUEL PUMP. ACCORDING TO MANY ONLINE SOURCES CHRYSLER VEHICLES FROM CERTAIN YEARS, ESPECIALLY 2011, ARE KNOWN TO HAVE FAULTY TIPMS AND THAT THE PROBLEM CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS RANGING FROM ANNOYANCES TO LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENTS. MY SPECIFIC PROBLEM OCCURS BOTH WHEN I AM ATTEMPTING TO START IT AND WHEN I AM DRIVING IT. I AM UNABLE TO PURCHASE THE NECESSARY REPAIR DUE TO THE EXTREME COST OF THE PART. THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF THIS PART MAKES THIS PROBLEM EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

FUEL PUMP RELAY WILL NOT ENGAGE AT TIMES. TURNING THE IGNITION KEY SEVERAL TIMES SOLVES ISSUE. FUEL PUMP RELAY WILL NO LONG SHUT OFF THE FUEL PUMP AFTER TURNING IGNITION OFF CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO PUMP UNTIL BATTERY IS DRAINED. POSSIBLE SAFETY CONCERNS INCLUDE OVER HEATING OF FUEL PUMP CAUSING A SHORT SHORT IN THE FUEL PUMP WHICH MAY LEAD TO THE GAS TANK EXPLODING. VOLTAGE TEST WERE COMPLETED TO VERIFY RELAY IS THE ISSUE. NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THE SAME ISSUES WERE PRESENT IN THE 2011 GRAND CARAVANS AND GRAND CHEROKEES, WHICH WHERE RECALLED, RUNNING THE SAME TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE AS MINE AND SEVERAL OTHERS WAS ADDRESS BUT NOT THE OTHER MODELS.
