The contact stated that she was able to drive approximately a mile, and was able to pull over in a parking lot to exit the vehicle. The contact stated that she then lift the hood of her vehicle and saw 2 wires that were still burning in the engine compartment of the vehicle. The contact stated she then contacted the fire department, who arrived on the scene, and extinguished the fire. The contact stated that she was advised by the fire department that the fire started behind the firewall of the vehicle. The contact stated a fire report was made, and her vehicle was towed to her residence. The contact stated that no injuries were sustained to her, or the passenger in the vehicle at the time. The contact stated that she has not contacted the dealer at the time, however, she contacted the manufacturer in regard to a recall that she found while doing her own research. The contact stated that the same year , make , and model vehicle was recalled and was experiencing the same failure as she was with her vehicle NHTSA 15V032000 (Electrical System) , however, her vehicle was not included in the recall. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT. THE HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED THE DAY BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE HEADLIGHT WORKED WHEN INSTALLED BUT WAS NOT WORKING BY THE NEXT EVENING. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHTS HAVE NEEDED REPLACING MORE OFTEN THAN THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT (A 3:1 RATIO OR A 4:1 RATIO). THAT RATIO MAY INDICATE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. HEADLIGHT BULB WAS A NAPA BP1255/H11LL-N. OUR CAR TOOK AN H11 BULB. THE LL STANDS FOR LONG LIFE.
