FOLLOWING TWO HEAVILY LADEN 18 WHEELERS DURING A LIGHT RAIN STORM FOR TWO OR MORE MILES ON A PAVED, TWO LANE COUNTY ROAD, IT CAME CLEAR FOR ME TO PASS, I ACCELERATED AND ALL WENT WELL FOR JUST LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET EVEN WITH THE FIRST ONE IN FRONT OF ME. MY MOMENTUM CARRIED ME FAR ENOUGH TO PULL BACK IN FRONT OF THE FIRST TRUCK. BY THAT TIME I WAS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. MY TRUCK WOULD BARELY RUN, IT WAS VIBRATING VIOLENTLY AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION TO GET ME OUT OF THE WAY OF THE TRUCK I HAD JUST PASSED. HAD HE NOT BRAKED HARD FOR ME THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS WRECK. I'VE HAVE HAD 5 OTHER INCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'VE TAKEN IT UP WITH FOMOCO, OVER A PERIOD THE FIRST YEAR. WORKING THROUGH THE OKLAHOMA BBB I WAS ASSURED FORD WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. FOMOCO SENT A TEXAS REP TO MY WORK LOCATION TO PUT THE MOST RECENT FIX ON THE VEHICLE. FOLLOWING THIS FIX, WE CONTINUED INTO A DRY SPELL, BUT AS FATE WOULD WOULD HAVE IT, I WAS IN A HEAVY RAIN WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS AND THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED. THIS TIME MY WIFE WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. SHE THOUGHT I HAD RUN OVER SOMETHING BECAUSE THE ACTION OF THE PICKUP WAS SO VIOLENT. I'VE OCCASIONALLY SEEN LETTERS TO THE EDITOR OF MOTOR TREND'S "TRUCK TREND". OTHER PEOPLE DESCRIBING THE EXACT THING I'VE EXPERIENCED DRIVING THIS SAME TYPE VEHICLE (EARLY MODEL ECOBOOST V-6, THOSE BUILT PRIOR TO APRIL 2011, I BELIEVE). THIS IS ON THE ECOBOOST F150. I WAS DRIVING DURING A RAIN AND HAD BEEN AROUND 70 MILES. THE WEATHER WAS RAINY. LAST WEDNESDAY UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN ON A VACATION TRIP. ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD TO EVADE ME AS I TRIED TO GET BACK INTO MY LANE. MY TRUCK HOVERED BETWEEN 25 AND 30 MPH FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS WITH IT DOING THE SPUTTERING AND SLOWING THING EACH TIME I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE DURING THAT TIME PERIOD. AFTER PRETTY MUCH COASTING FOR 30 OR SO SECONDS, THE TRUCK SPRANG BACK TO LIFE AND DROVE AS ADVERTISED. FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND I (AS WELL AS OTHERS) BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS DEFECT. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I CAN RECALL, BUT IT HAPPENS EACH TIME I PRESS THE THROTTLE ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR ACCELERATION. I HAVE LEARNED THAT MY F150 IS NOT RELIABLE ENOUGH TO ATTEMPT TO PULL OUT UNLESS TRAFFIC IS COMPLETELY CLEARED, OR I HAVE SEVERAL CAR LENGTHS OF DISTANCE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED YOU COULD NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. THE ENGINE WOULD ONLY SHUTTER UNTIL I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES, AT THREE DIFFERENT TIME IT PUT ME IN DANGER WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO INCREASE SPEED TO GET OUT OF DANGER ONLY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE SIDE OFF A BUSY INTERSTATE. I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM FORD AND THEY INSTALLED THE NEW VAIN IN THE TURBO. THIS HELPED THE PROBLEM BUT IT REALLY HURT THE FUEL MILEAGE AFTER THAT. *TR
